Description Hooooooolyyyyyyy blip, I want GRIM on this one.

Rest assured, this isn't from any sense of negativity during this whole pandemic, but after seeing Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, I decided to draw a scene from an RP I did with a while back.

The story was that Mewtwo makes a suit of armor for itself based on the armor Giovanni once put it in, to actually enhance its powers rather than suppress them.  However, this ultimately awakens a part of Mewtwo that still wants revenge on humanity and will do whatever it takes to annihilate all mankind and natural-born Pokémon--even if it means hurting it's own Pokémon clone clan if they object.  The Mewtwo Arena from Pokémon Stadium, in the story, takes place inside the realm of Mewtwo's mind, and as Armored Mewtwo takes more and more control over the Genetic Pokémon, it becomes darker and more evil-looking as you see in the pic.  The sky, of course, is inspired by you-know-who, and it's at the point where Mewtwo's memory of Ambertwo, the first and only human Mewtwo has come to love, is trying to call out for it to fight it's inner demons.  She's begging Mewtwo not to destroy "their remember place," and Armored Mewtwo claims she wasn't even real--just a pawn used by humans to try to control it--a product of humanity's sinful ways.  With Ambertwo depicted as a fading, crying angel, it's here that Mewtwo realizes that the voice awakened by the armor it created is a devil's whisper, and it's still trying to fight it, no longer willing to reignite it's world conquest.  But does Mewtwo's own psychic power alone stand a chance against the fatally amplified mind of it's internal evil self?

Here's where the story begins.  When and I set this up, I wanted to have a story that's basically about the dangers of exploiting nostalgia for one's own selfish gain, kinda like taking a jab at how there's so many inferior remakes or reboots that seems to be dominating the TV and movie industry nowadays.  In Mewtwo's case, it's demonic self is trying to relive the nostalgia of the terror and fear it instilled in Trainers from the first Pokémon movie.

This pic is actually one of my more ambitious projects.  Originally Armored Mewtwo was just going to be the color I initially drew it as, but not only did I see it mixed too much with the real Mewtwo's colors, I decided it didn't look scary enough, so I put a color gradient over Armored Mewtwo and the effect looked MUCH better.  As for Ambertwo's angel, I put her in a separate cel and added transparency to her in a video editing software to get her ghostly effect.  This is why the pic may come off as smaller in size than the others; it's a screencap of the resulting video.

The story is also kinda inspired by the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, which, let's be honest, all three movies are a metaphor for schizophrenia.  But I think me and 's interpretation here might be more relevant to today's entertainment world than I initially thought.  Yes, it's dark, it's nightmarish, and maybe it's even condescending towards people who enjoy remakes, but the story can really get people to think about what they want when they make something; a lesson not exactly taken to heart in the entertainment industry, sadly.

Mabey Ambertwo can help Mewtwo break free from the armor's control.

Remember the demons awoken from the armor are trying to erase Ambertwo’s influence from Mewtwo’s spirit, even claiming it’s happy memories with her are nothing but lies so it can be more susceptible to the devil’s whispers.  Same thing with Ash’s sacrifice and tears of the Pokémon from the first movie; that they were all meaningless, poisonous to Mewtwo’s ultimate power and suppressing its true potential.  The RP fanfic goes literally deeper into this, and as I’ve said, the 10-year-old guardian angel of all Pokémon could be Mewtwo’s last hope...
