Description
What else is there to do while idling away the hours in a forest?Actually, while doing this, it reminded me of this group of old Chinese men who meet down a few blocks from where I live every morning to play Chinese chess. There's always a crowd of them looming over the pair who are playing (of which there are only two or three) and all offering their advice and comments at once.

And if you're interested, this was the pencil sketch I had on the illustration board before starting to paint: [link]

Another lovely piece! So playful, but also serious in a way. I really enjoy how you made the trees be like figures, but in such a sublte manner. The fairy's playful pose is great too! Nice work!

That is impressive. *Stares, with tongue lolling*
I like the fox in front. There's the great huge tree-person, and then this little fox with one ear cocked...

The poor little tortoise! He looks so cranky... and I can't blame him.
I love all the leafy bits of the faerie woman's clothing, and the weirdly graceful tree-figures.

This is very beautiful. It also reminds me of one of my childhood memories. Every afternoon during the summer my older cousins used to sit on the street corner (our house used to stand on the corner of the street), and they'd play chess with this grandfatherly man who lived two houses down the opposite street from ours. He was a whiz at chess, and he used to teach my cousins how to play. When I got old enough he taught me how to play chess too.
And, like in the picture, there would always be a bunch of people (in my case, my cousins) would sit around to offer help and advice - even if it was the last thing I needed because I wanted to concentrate more on my next move than listen to them.
Hmm, I wonder who is in the lead?

Oh this looks wonderfull!
I love the trees; they all look so sinister, but I bet they'd be upset if the tree playing chess lost!
I also love the foliage and the way you can control watercolour, the wonderfull technique and the way you use colours.
And I see you got your little flying fox spirit in here too, it's the most adorable little creature! Your work is fantastic!
