I really like the title, it speaks to me today. I wrote a letter to a very close friend about the notion of potential that is dormant in everyone of us, there are factors that let it blossom, and conditions that let it sleep deeply.. Your artwork is almost perfectly coherent with the thoughts in my letter. The tree, which has 2 life states, dormant and awake. The butterflies too..

i like how the butterflies' colours sorta bleed out. it's impossible to prevent, i know, but heck, you make mistakes look downright cool.

Actually that was on purpose. Preventing it is very easy, as long as the background is dry when you're working in the red it won't bleed. The reason it bleeds in this is because after painting the red, I took a large flat brush with a little bit of water and purposely pulled the color out from the butterflies a bit to give them a reddish aura.
