That is so beautiful.
I saw the title of this somewhere and just to click it, I love that Tori song so much.
Your picture captivates the spirit of her new album so well, especially the colours, the shades of white, orange, red and purple.
I don't think I could ever do something as wonderful in watercolour.
It's amazing. Thank you

Wow... Beautiful piece of art for one of my favourite songs of Tori Amos at present! I was planning to do a pic based on this song too after doing one for "The Beekeeper", but after seeing this, I'll probably not do it
hehehe

No, I never took any watercolor classes, that is self-taught. Here is a tutorial on how I work though, and I also describe all my materials: [link]

have you ever thought about doing a piece that's in the rain? or a storm? i would think your unique style would make an interesting piece to see, how you do the lighting and whatnot, aslo have you ever made a furrie? my character is half human, half dog, just the ears, no tail....that would be cool to see if you wanted any ideas

great light... and so little freeness lost in translation.
I really admire your staying true to drawing what you love and not being discouraged by the usual derision of fantasy and "illustration" ( if indeed you encountered it ). I remember reading a while ago ( in shadowscapes I think ) that you've done some intaglio work. is there any chance of seeing them here or elsewhere ?? if you have them on file. just curious, I've been an admirer since I first saw your work on elfwood and would be interested to see them. -are editions of that kind something you might do in the future ? -regards. lc

Oh yeah, i've gotten plenty of that derision. But I really love doing this stuff, so to me being a "sell out" would not be doing illustration, but trying to mold myself into the gallery and fine art world. As for intaglio, yes I do have some of them scanned. I'll see about uploading those sometime!

The work itself is simply amazing. I love it, and Tori Amos is a goddess herself. Sleeps With Butterflies is one of my favorite songs on The Beekeeper. So I have to admit that is a wonderful blend.

Again...another lovely piece of art...I just love the way you get the colorations...so pretty~
The woman looks very serene, and almost kinda reminds me of a red-headed Cate Blanchette...the face structure just looks very similar. And of course, I love the butterflies!! They give a soft, playful look to the picture...very, very nice. ^^

Very colorful. I love the way you had the butterflies sit on the spiral, and the way the wind is teasing them.
