Description Another conversation with that I had concerning the same character as the last (I like the character... can you blame me?).  Snow Woman is known to of a motherly disposition who loves children. I mused on one of her pictures of a short story of the robot master searching for a child lost in the cold.

Here I'm also fiddling with a few new brushes I downloaded for Photoshop to help with the 'sketching' process on my tablet. I rather like them, to be honest.  Drew this up and couldn't help but let my mind put together a small story.  The picture was originally going to be colored, but I thought greyscale would fit the setting a bit better.

So, yes... this picture comes with a small story to accompany it. I don't write much anymore (I have a few stories floating around out there) but on occasion the desire will strike me. If you would so graciously indulge me of a few minutes of your time, you can read the story below.  Of course, I had to take a few creative liberties with the character as not TOO much information is out there concerning dear Snow Woman, but I hope that will forgive me any blatant tresspasses. Thanks for viewing, and hope you enjoyed it!

The snow crunched underneath her feet. It wasn't loud; her lighter frame allowed her to walk atop it without sinking, thus keeping noise (and footprints) to a minimum.  A specific design choice made by her mother.  Right now, she was only grateful for it. Sometimes it was nice to sink into the snow, but not now.  Now she was only glad that she could run swiftly overtop of it.

Another gust of wind buffeted her clothes. Visibility was dwindling as the snow came down ever harder. The blizzard had set in more quickly than predicted, and temperatures were sinking. Her time was quickly running out.

She paused to take in the scene, her eyes scanning over the landscape as the computer in her head tagged the most likely signs or tells that somebody had recently passed through here. But whatever there may have been only moments before was being obscured by the thick, white tufts of snow that fell from the sky, blanketing everything in flat shades of white.

"C'mon... C'mooooon..." she whispered to herself, to her own head as it tried to pick out anything she could use.  Finally a few spots blinked within her vision. Dwindling signs that something, or someone, had been here. She grit her teeth and pushed forward.  It wasn't much of a lead, but in this weather, it was all she had to go on.

She called out into the night sky, shouting the child's name, but her only answer was another flurry of cold, white snow drifting over the landscape. She moved forward a few more feet. The child couldn't have gotten far. At least, she hoped not.  All she could do was follow the trail that her vision highlighted for her.

Another draft washed over her metal form, but she ignored it. It didn't bother her in the slightest. The gust carried with it something else, however, something new. It would have been fully inaudible to another human- indistinguishable to the roar of the wind- but she wasn't human, and her robotic ears had caught it. Not as clearly as she might have hoped, but she still heard it.  Her mind quickly processed the extra noise, letting her know within a seventy two percent certainty that its origins had been human. Her eyes again highlighted a cone before her. The sound had come from somewhere in that direction.

She called again, increasing her pace  as she rushed forward. This time she heard it clearly. A response, nothing more than a whimper, but a response all the same.  Her mind quickly ran through the checklist as she pinpointed the exact location. The child had been lost in the blizzard for over a half hour now. She had begun to lose hope of ever finding her, but here she was. The girl had been smart, huddling up against the base of a large tree which would protect her from the worst of the wind. A small effort, but it might have been just enough to save her life.

"I'm here, Kara, I'm here!" She sad, reassuring the child as she wrapped her arms around the small figure.  She wasn't shivering. A bad sign.

Her scans washed over the girl, quickly picking out any abnormalities.  As expected, body temperatures were dangerously low, but not fatally so.  Frostbite hadn't set in yet either, though it would in only another few minutes. It was a start, but she had to get the girl inside quickly.

The girl whimpered as she was picked up, clinging tightly to her savior. "Hush, little one, hush," the robot said reassuringly, "I'm here. You'll be safe now." She hugged the girl to her chest, her large sleeves helping to protect her further from the wind as she started the trek back to the girl's home.  She couldn't help but smile to herself. Scans indicated that the girl should pull through, as long as the proper care was administered.  She was just glad Kara had been found in time. Her mother's words flitted through her head as she walked.

Snow, my dear girl, though frost is your comfort, and ice is your playmate, you are far from cold. I have given you a kind disposition, that you might get along with those around you, and a warm heart, that you will always desire to help others whenever you can.

Snow Woman's smile widened. Her mother hadn't been speaking strictly metaphorically in that regard. With a thought she set her core to run at an elevated rate, overclocking her processes to safe levels. She could feel the warmth blossom through her chest as the heat sinks quickly siphoned the excess heat from her core, and shunted it through her skin, providing necessary warmth to the child in her arms.  A warm heart indeed. It was another design choice. Her mother knew she might be called to find those lost in the cold.  She was careful though. Too much heat could shock the girl's body and cause more harm than good. But she was a robot, and in perfect control. She would let no further harm come to the young human.

"Snow, are you there!?"  Another voice broke through the wind, this one very familiar to the robot, and her smile grew a little more.

"I'm here, Polar, and I found her! She's okay, but we have to get her inside quickly!"

Another robot master appeared through the snow before her. Polar Man, equipped with his trademark shades and scarf, moved to her side. "Oh thank heavens, her parents will be so relieved.  I came as quick as I could, but I doubt I could even have found you if it wasn't for your signal."

Snow Woman gave the other robot a grateful smile, "The fact that you came at all is more than enough for now. I need you to run to her home. Have them prepare lots of blankets and dry clothes, and a hot drink. Not too hot though. I'll be right behind you, I promise."

Polar Man nodded and was gone, easily making his way through the snow, which was as much his home as it was hers.  With a sigh of relief Snow Woman started back down the hill, holding the child tightly against the heat radiating from her heart.

"Come, sweetie. Let's get you somewhere warm."

Oh, and a brief cameo of Polar Man, who was designed by . I hope I didn't step on any toes with that one, but Polar seems to be Snow's main squeeze, so I thought I'd throw him in.

Heartwarming story through the cold! Nice, fits the cozy pic perfectly! That's one yuki-onna you'll be glad to meet in a snowstorm.

This is quite a neat short story. It really captures Snow Woman's gentle personality. Nice Job.

And don't worry. Feel free to use Polar Man or any of my other characters whenever you like in the future. I'd be more than delighted .

Well, thanks! I'm glad it captures that feel, as it was what I was going for.  I realized that, when told that a child was missing in a blizzard, Snow would likely use every resource she had to find them, which included any friends who may be able to help, so it seemed fitting that she would call on Polar's help.

Thanks for viewing!  And I'm glad you liked it.

Makes sense. Polar Man was essentially made for that purpose and much more. This reminds me that I should expand more on my character's personalities more often. People often have vague ideas about them whenever they see them at first.

This was absolutely perfect. I remember when we talked about this! So glad to finally see it and am jealous that you can write these sort of stories. I can't write a thing! I love the picture too! I see you drew her with her little friend which I never named. Kara is perfect, Kara is now her name! Thank you so much for this!

Aww, I'm glad you liked it! I... took some liberties with Snow's design/past, just to, you know, fill in the blanks. They don't have to be canon though.

And yes, I did draw her little friend there. I wasn't sure if you'd notice or not. XD Another 'liberty' with her name, but you seem to like the idea, which makes me happy! Glad I could help!

It's me who should thank you though, having characters that inspire creativity in me.  I don't normally do these kinds of things, but I rather like how it came out.  And I hope doesn't mind me throwing Polar in there, if he ever actually sees this.  I just thought it'd be fitting.

It works. I like your little additions to her story so much they might as well be canon. This could be how she ended up meeting her little friend Kara. Ever since then they have been close.

Oh and this is REALLY nice especially!

'' Snow, my dear girl, though frost is your comfort, and ice is your playmate, you are far from cold. I have given you a kind disposition, that you might get along with those around you, and a warm heart, that you will always desire to help others whenever you can.''

It's so fitting and made me smile.

I do try to stay as true to character as I can, given what knowledge I have of them. Details on your characters aren't abundant, but I stuck with what I knew as best I could. It makes me smile knowing that I made you smile, and you're more than welcome to adopt the details as you see fit. I would be honored!

On a side note, I need to know the names of all your new DFO F.Slayer characters so I can still see when you're on. XD

And that chibi Snow is freakin' adorable!

You did wonderful here. I've been thinking about keeping character bios somewhere just incase anyone got curious about any of them. There's a continuous story for them but details are scarce here but I've always had a direction for them.

Oh yeah, SoniaBeImont is my main for F.Slayer. The other one is SkullKane. Whenever I catch you on though I could roll a new Slayer for you. They are pretty fun. I think you'd enjoy the Vagabond class. It's super fast and crazy. Reminds me of a Jedi.

Aww that's sweet! I don't have my glasses at the moment, so I wasn't able to read some of the excerpt, not when my cat decided to sit on me and pull me away from the computer. But still, Snow Woman sounds like a really sweet and interesting character. C:
