Description
As a secondary army next to my Grey Knights I'm planning on doing a all terminator Deathwing list. But since I A. don't like the bone color on Deathwing and B. at some point might even get some marines or bikes in my army, I like to keep it coherent. On top of that; Painting white as well as a half/half color scheme was a interesting thing to try out for now.I did enjoy it a lot, so I'll have another 23 or so terminators to go (seeing as I have 7 done).

Yeah, previous codex they were really badass. I toyed with the idea of a necron force years ago, never got to it. The thing that kinda appealed to me is the lack of variation weirdly. Just have lots and lots of troops, some monoliths and you're done.
Now they have a lot of other things going on.
Maybe I'm a minimalist listbuilder, lol... don't want too much random variation going on. *looks at his Grey knights terminators/paladins & Deathwing terminators*

Necrons do have more choice in models and weapons, but in many ways they're even more simple than before. Most models used to be able to take disruption fields, but now dont. Warriors and scarrabs have no options now, immortals have a free weapon switch but thats it. In fact the only real veriation comes in thier HQs and high point cost units, which isnt much difference to how it was before. You can do quite well with a couple of HQs and a whole lot of warriors.

Myea... if I ever want to do an army that's easy to paint (provided I don't want a different look or NMM instead of metallics), I'll look into necrons probably. But there's so much armies I like for a variety of reasons and I can't really bring myself to start them all especially since I'm not that much of a gamer (and actually started painting miniatures again to kill time in between writing and doing some illustrations)

necrons or grey knights for a quick painted army. Grey knights being slightly more complicated in the details, but less models.
I agree though.I have a playable army of every army, excluding space wolves, dark angels, black templars and sisters of battle.

*looks at his own grey knights*... if you want them silver...
Playable army for pretty much each fraction? That would be something I could never justify, to get myself, lol. I'm not that hardcore into the hobby I guess, besides... if I had that much armies, I'd make sure I'd spend a lot of time gaming.
I'm into my 2nd army now, but and even that made me consider it a bit... not neccesarily for the cost, but more about "what would I need a few armies for?" My friend recently started, he's well underway doing 2000 points of marines, chances are he'll start a 2nd one, maybe we'll both get into fantasy at some point, but that's probably it I guess... and hope. I don't have a lot of room to store it all, lol. And storing it in boxes is a shame, especially if it's painted well

i got some IKEA bookcases with glass doors and extra shelves, and diplay my models there, though its abit cramped.
Having every army means then when some realy cool model comes out, i dont have to justify a reason to buy it, like i used too. Plus it gives me a chance to try all the armies. Some armies i thought i wouldnt like, i love, and vice verser (thought i'd love orks, but now not so much.)

Heh.. yeah, I can see how that works, trying out armies and all. I rather try that with guitars or synthesizers, lol.
I don't really have the urge to buy new models if they come out per se... I just buy whatever I need. That evil GW marketing scheme of new and shiny things doesn't do it for me (doesn't work for me with other brands either). But of course, if there's awesome models around for army X it is a good incentive to start the army. I still like all those big tyranid creatures over the small ones, so that's something I had a slight interest in for a while (on top that Starship troopers & Alien are among my favorite movies). Most armies do have some kind of appeal... but just not enough to spend a few hundred on it. Though maybe over time (as in years, a collection might grow a bit) but since I started getting back into the hobby about 4 months ago, I think it's a fairly good budget start I made.

most nid monsters are cool, but you need to do alot of guant fillers which takes some f the joy out of it.
