Description
This probably took something like 6 or 7 hours to paint, it was so much fun! I painted it for John Howe's Theme of the Month, with the theme this month being 'Dragons'.I imagine this guy to be some sort of guardian of the forest, protecting it from destruction. I haven't given him a name yet, I'll have to think on it
Constructive critisism please! This is my third digital painting, and I need to know my weaknesses in order to improve!
I hope you like it!

Wow! Great colour scheme, it conveys a lot of mood! I would agree with previous comments about the background. I would suggest some brighter beams/sparkles of light through the treetops. I also think that some redetailing with a harder brush (particularly on highlights) could help. Overall, I am very impressed!

Thankyou very much! I'm still not very confident with digital art, so I really appreciate comments on these peices.
Thankyou for the tips, I may rework this one at the end of the year... I'm currently being eaten alive by my last year of high school *sobs*

wow this is great!! I think its my favorite one in your gallery. as for constructive criticisms, I would agree about the trees in the background and to see a little more of the dragon. Also it might look good to see a little more darkness/skeletal/skin detail coming down off the left wing. not sure though, it might take away from the shiny nature of the dragon. Just something to think about. Overall though, AWESOME. I am jelous.

REALLY it is amazing, I am awed. Third time lucky they say, but you don't need luck. This is just so pretty! The lighting and everything C:

This drake reminds me of an earlier dragon sketch that you did. You have a nice grasp on digital art (an area where I haven't a clue). Did you use one of those tablet things? geez, i don't even know what they are called! Do you enjoy using one? Do you recommend using one? I feel like we should see a little more of the dragon beyond the shoulders and the wings. Perhaps just a bit of a tail or hip? Love the color choice! AND THAT EYE IS AMAZING!

Ha ha - Don't worry, I haven't got much more of a clue than you!
Yeps, I used a tablet, I got it last year, although I haven't used it all that much. They take a bit to get used to them, but after that they are great! I would recomend using one, they are great fun
I got a bit lazy with the body I sketched it straight onto the computer, something I don't usually do... and I didn't really intend this to become very much!
Eyes are fun! ^^ Thanks Mr. Panda

This is very good for a third digital painting. Everything seems to fit really well. Not actually sure myself where you could improve, seems great overall and I like the style too. 1 thing maybe would be the background in the distance, seems a little more flat than the rest of the picture. Maybe adding some light rays could give a better effect, also adding maybe more trees fading out into the background.

Gah! Thanks for reminding me! I need to fix that lighting, I did have rays of light coming down, but I painted over them when I added more detail to the background. I will fix that when I get back home...
Thanks for the comment Jim
