ikr clipping layer is my savior eue 

but hffff omigosh i use overlay and screen so much

For shading I personally use multiply but i use a somewhat dark grey/blue. When i finish choosing where the shading goes I preserve the opacity and go back over some parts with a lighter grey/blue :'D i dunno if that information helps either but i usually just guess where the light source is -w-

I have such a hard time following the light source omg, I usually go by instinct X'D

and I use dark blue too <33 and sometimes dark purple
