haha thanks! I did mean for it to be scary actually, it's based off of that scene in Try where he's using her as a bargaining tool (before it backfires...) but it ended up as a pairing picture instead >>;; haha. I actually like scary xelloss a lot... probably because I love adorable things and I love scary things and he happens to miraculously be both of these XD probably why i've liked teh character since I was 14...

I have no words. Just I like it, even the "aura" irradiating from them. Xellos is show like he really is, an evil demon, but even so, he is like hugging Filia with all his being and aura. I'm not sure, how to explain myself. But this is great.

haha nah I haven't drawn them in a long time, but I guess Filia's bangs looks like Integra's hair.... Xelloss, however... I dunno XD too girly. too thin. he'd make a poor alucard (but that would be an interesting face off... wouldhtegirlydemonwinsincehe'sactuallysomeancientdemonalmostasstrongasthelords?? or will alucard god mode all over everything as usual? XD who knows)

He's actually very capable of being terrifying, he's a "Fake out" character. usually looks like an adorable, affable smiling "^_^" man but quite capable of looking like what I painted.... [link] like such XD .... he just... normally looks like this instead [link] lol >> i've liked this character since I was like.. 14 (I'm ... much older than that now XD) so way before I got into hellsing I was into slayers. he's an awesome character. 1,000 + year old demon that's one of the ost powerful in the world but so laid back/affable that he barely ever shows it. hahaha

The best thing is that even after the main cast finds out he's a super powerful demon all he really does to "drop his human act" is start levittaing a lot XDDDD the happy go lucky affable persona is.... a lot of his actual personality apparently rofl

You should watch it! it's a classic. You can technically start with NEXT (the second season) because the first season is a little slow imo (the pacing is weird but I really do love the firs tseason too) bu tI usually just tell people to start on season 2 lol it's on netflix, hulu and youtube officially (but i'd suggest the sub because teh dub actors kind of..... don't fit the characters)

So where do I begin.
This is my OTP. I rarely see art that does this couple justice, and even more rarely is it art that is so dark and cathartic that I will pardon for being "unhealthy" solely because it is so sheerly beautiful. You have SO succeeded, if I may humbly say. This is thrilling to look at. No, rather, to EXPERIENCE. It's not just looking, somehow it involves all the senses. It's ENGULFING. I'm not trying to be a bullshitty art critic or anything here, that's my visceral reaction.
First of all, the title really entices me. Who is being absolved? Is it Filia, for resisting Xelloss, for perceiving him as the dark being he truly is? Is it Xelloss, for turning harmful intent on her and remaining loyal to his own race? The title is both elucidating and enigmatic.
As for the image itself, perhaps my favorite compositional point is your sparing but powerful use of red. The red of Xelloss's iris, and the red of his geometric motif on his cloak dissolving into liquid (blood? fire?). You also used a filter that very much resembles the scrape of a palette knife or wood grains seeping through a painted panel, and that does a lot to add depth to the spatial perceptions, as well as to create a sense of destructive sucking upward-motion.
I am both an artist and a writer, and I have often been preoccupied by this scene in TRY. My friend challenged me several months back to do a one shot covering Xelloss's perspective of that moment in which he "holds Filia hostage." So I wrote this: [link] If you ever get a moment, I'd be honored to have you read it. It's not as brooding as your take, but I hope it still does the scene justice.

aah thank you !! The end product of this being a pairing picture was kind of an accident, I was originally drawing that scene from the end of Try and it just... went elsewhere XD
I guess it could be more fun to just let you think of why I named it that instead of explaining exactly why XD and yeah.... Honestly I just cheaply used the liquify filter because I was pushing my shapes a little more fluidly into place but went kind of nuts and thought it looked like running oil. it's kind of a cheap tactic but I used it on my old ORgel pic too and liked it.. i'm sure i'll get my photoshop license revoked for it someday XD: lol
