If there were to start quoting Team Rocket, then that would be going too far. If I remember correctly,that screenshot of Jesse and James is from either Mewtwo Returns or Power Of One movie. Interestingly enough in the original Japanese version,they are a couple but in the Western version,they are friends. At least Kokoro and Zack don't play sort of game of the whole "will they won't they" often seen in many tv shows with a male and female protagonist.Β

Butch and Cassidy are far worse than Jessie and James from what I remember in the early seasons of Pokemon. Unless of course the writers changed them into acting like their fellow Team Rocket Co workers. Either way through, the Pokemon tv show will outlive the likes of the Simpsons. Those are my least favorite anime protagonist. Give me someone like Rock from Black Lagoon or Spike from Cowboy Bebop.

season one Jessie and James actually caused huge trouble,... indigo league they even pulled guns on people, kidnapped people, got people sick, electrocuted ash brutally several times, tied up misty inducing kinky fanfiction, kicked several pokemon in the face (if you did that to a human you'd be a psycho, and some pokemon are proven to be humans),... and they caused a pokemon version of 9/11 multiple times.
Jessie and James are shitheads in their own right,... in season 2 they are de-clawed as hell and get slapped around. gen 5 they grow some balls back, and here we are.
simpsons holds the animation crown are the moment. bart was a kid when I was. I like the simpsons to be fair,... constantly inventive.
bart does make a bad "anime protagonist" lol.
black lagoon I find a bit vulgar, and can take things too seriously,... but can be a good show. everyone is trying to be so damn hard on that show.
spike strikes a good balance between chill and tough.
personally gene starwind is superior in watch ability to either of those guys for me. I love that when he gets the advantage he starts trolling his ass off but not enough to let it backfire. he's like vegeta, but not a murderer nor a god damn self destructive cretin.

That was all in the Japanese version which obviously was not going to make it stateside. I never expected to later learn that such content was deemed okay for children, but the Japanese have a far different culture and standards as to what is deemed okay. Not even the darkest Batman The Animated Series episode can come close to that. I don't know who this Gene Starwind is or from what series he is from.

Then 4kids didn't do a great job with their asasine and unjustified censorship if they allowed all of that to go through. I can't remember when I stopped watching Batman: TAS. I have not seen that episode featuring Darkseid.Β I am aware of how Damian Wayne was concieved.Β Although to the best of my knowledge,.it is only been brought up in the comic books. If it has been mentioned in any of the countless Batman animated movies I have not watched them.Β
