Description

Just a quick thing I did to test some vue materials.

The first is a dragon made completely out of exposed flesh. At least that way you will know what the inside will be like before you get there.

Then there is the liquid dragon. *RaeThalis and I have done a number of these creatures. I decided to try them out in vue. It kinda worked. I think I need a better background than the one I threw together in a few minutes.

another liquid one I did

and one of Rae Thalis'

Creature materials are fun!

Now since this is kinda scrap material, I decided to try something new with my signature. A little while ago I started adding a small icon on all my deviations, just for that extra 'proof of ownership'. However, being a photoshop user, I understand that the small icon I was placing could easily be removed from the image. Part of what makes it so easy is being small and located on a background that is mostly the same color means it could be removed within 5 minutes or less. To make it a little harder, I tried this full screen icon, and made sure it was fairly see through so you wont miss anything below.

Do you guys think the new icon is better? Does it get in the way? Suggestions?

First one looks like something out of the DOOM games

Heheh, I think the Liquid Dragons render better in Vue than in D|S ^^

Yes, Vue does a lot better job with glass than DAZ. Glass and water render much better in Vue.

I've seen some amazingly realistic glass done in Carrara 7, but it still struggles a bit with water. The water is heavily dependant on the materials around it too (Well, that's a given in all situations, but more so here than in other software).

D|S  I haven't seen any good water or glass textures - overly specular, or are bitmap based. With Octane and other external renderers* water and glass have improved a lot, but Vue still does them better.

* Srsly, why did D|S get these before Carrara? DAZ should just get rid of Hexagon and Carrara - they're never going to properly develop them, so why bother?  As it stands, D|S can do everything and anything Carrara can do with the exception of modeling, and Carrara's modeling tools are prehistoric, and that statement is being far too generous. I mean, I used to joke about D|S being their one and only true software, but just being a pet project of sorts. Now look - it's got pretty much everything Carrara has, while Carrara's lagging behind in terms of development (And STILL has unfixed bugs from versions 5 and 6, and we're approaching version 9 already?).  At this time, I really am glad I left Carrara behind and moved on to Cinema 4D. Sitting and hopping Carrara would get some needed attention and not just play second to D|S was a totally lost cause.

Granted, C4D has some issues MAXON isn't addressing (Thinking Particles, Pyrocluster, xPresso, and BodyPaint) and hasn't addressed for years, but hey.

can't help but shivering at the first... exposed flesh = hyper sensitiveness^^ unless this doesn't apply to this dragon
