Description Little animation. Again, sorry for the small size, but it renders faster that way.

To help shape the throat and stomach, I used a sphere. I set the wyvern to 'smooth' around the sphere and then I moved it down his throat and around his belly. I still used some pre made swallow and belly morphs, but a lot of the movement is actually caused by that sphere.

I'm trying to make a belly like this but for some reason I keep failing. :/ Not sure how to do all theΒ sphere smoothing and collision stuff. Can you help me?
I feel a little new to trying to make it like this but looks cool

Its not the best way to make belly or throat movements. This one came out pretty good, and I have no idea how. All the other animations Ive done using this technique came out twitchy.

To start, load a creature and sphere into Daz. Click the creature, and under edit -> figure -> geometry there is a button called 'apply smoothing modifier'. Click that. Because the smoothing modifier tries to remove sharp edges, things like horns or teeth may become rounded. It doesn't happen all the time, but some models change more drastically than others.
You'll notice under the parameters tab there is a new setting called 'mesh smoothing'. In those settings there is a collision item, set that to the sphere.

Now when you move the sphere in and on the creature, the creature's skin will try to morph around it. You wont see it working in the animation window, you'll just see the sphere bouncing around theΒ scene after you animate it. To ensure the sphere doesn't poke through the creature's skin, go to the surfaces tab, click the sphere, and set the opacity to 0%. That way if the sphere pokes through, you wont see it happen and it will save you several hours of re-rendering.

As I said, its not the best way to do it. It's usually twitchy, there's the risk of poke through, you cant see it in real time, and you can only set one object to collide with. But I use the trick all the time in my still renders, often I replace the sphere with a human.

Alright then thanks for telling me. ^.=.^ I was able to play around with it and yah it dose look kinda off if you were to do animations but it looks great for still shots. I think d formers are better for animation stuff and what I play around with most times. Just wanted to try out this one for it looked great. I plan to play around with it more when I get the time

I was wondering, is there any other posing thing you can recommend besides Daz studio? Β I want to try my hand at posing stuff kinda like you do.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PWRof3D In reply to AshurasDaughter [2013-09-26 20:11:16 +0000 UTC]

There are a few others:

Β

Daz studio -Β the program isΒ free, but all of the models, materials, and plugins cost money.

Β

Poser - I think its over $200, but it comes with models, plugins, and other stuff.

Β

Cinema 4D - expensive stuff, but probably the best out there.

Β

Those are the three that stand out in my head. I would go with daz as your first program (since its free), but if you want to get more involved with animation or better rendering Id step up to Poser.

AshurasDaughter In reply to PWRof3D [2013-09-26 20:23:28 +0000 UTC]

So all of the models cost money for Daz? Β Since I'm not really sure how good I'll be at it, are there any basic models it gives you to start with?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PWRof3D In reply to AshurasDaughter [2013-09-26 20:57:21 +0000 UTC]

DAZ comes with 3 human shapes (male, female, child) and a basic skin texture; a dragon with a simple texture; a few scene props, 2 clothes wardrobes, 2 hair styles, and a few other basic props. So it does come with some stuff so you can play around and learn the program.

wow.. daz have an option to make something move inside? i didnt know about that.. where is the option for that.. maybe i can find it at poser too..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PWRof3D In reply to DragesOversky [2013-09-22 14:49:19 +0000 UTC]

I just made it appear like that.

I have a sphere that I placed inside the model, set the wyvern to have smoothing on, and set the collision item as the sphere. Β Then I simply moved the sphere around inside the model. Β The smoothing modifier wrapped the wyvern around the sphere.Β

So DAZ doesn't really have a soft mesh option, I just used what I had to mimic it.Β

fav.me/d5tmuoo I did something similar here.

So funny ^^
Yoshi eats a shyguy and blorps an egg out. Then he's like "Hmm...."Β  with little gears in his head churning as he thinks.
So he turns around and eats the egg he just made, and out comes a dizzy and confused Shyguy and Yoshi's like "WTF!?"Β Β

Β

Maybe its just some cotton candy...

and thanks

learner818 In reply to PWRof3D [2013-09-22 05:06:47 +0000 UTC]

I recognize that my comment could be easily misinterpreted. I just wanted to say this is one of the particular pieces that should be out of my 'like zone' because of the theme, but that I still love because of its awesomeness^^

I don't have any problem with digestion when it doesn't involve a life being thrown away or someone suffering

Cotton candy or watermelon, I don't care, I like this animation :3
