Description me and the graph editor are not so close

stemming from my 2d animation experience I basically did frame-by-frame on this

--------------

OKAY FOR ANYONE WHO HAS COME HERE TO COMMENT ABOUT WHY THE FUCK THIS SHIT WAS IN ANY OF THE SPYRO GROUPS IS BECAUSE I DONT KNOW

I just got some correspondence message requesting for it to be submitted to the group, I don't know what's in this and whoever asked me the permission to the group so I considered they have their reasons that's why I let them submit it to the group

as for now, I've removed it from the said groups and if you're still here to tell me why its doing there WELL I DONT KNOW, I'm only seeing 3 groups in the "Featured in groups" list and those are Clash-Of-The-Titans , BestDA Β and NewVarinjr

So chances are you're mistaking one character for the other.

I knew you were a perfect match for SFM.

Since you're on your way to a glorious path of making superb SFM content,Β Β here's a bit of a protip for youΒ Β (that's mostly unheard of or overlooked, but I hold it dear to my heart).
You can change the colour/tinting of the ambient occlusion in SFM. To achieve this, here are the following steps:

1.) If you haven't done so, create an animationset for a camera.

2.) Right click on the animationset of the cameraΒ (you wish to alter the AO), go to "Show in Element Viewer" and select "Camera."

3.) Click on the black box that's labelled "SSAOTint; a colour selection box will appear."

4.) Now join the fight to save TF2's original art style by giving your SSAO a reddish-grey tint (similar to the red-tinged "terminator" of the TF2 character lightwarp) or just use it in any other application you damn-well please.

I hope any of you find this useful.

lolvcrtape In reply to RandomMadnessityfier [2014-05-04 11:08:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I have actually known about that trick for quite a while, but haven't really thought of a use for it so far. Why do you suggest the "reddish-grey" tint, btw? Since AO is used mainly to deepen shadows, and for that, black works well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RandomMadnessityfier In reply to lolvcrtape [2014-05-05 10:00:59 +0000 UTC]

The reason why I suggest "reddish-grey" is because TF2's pre-established (and now mostly neglected) illustrated rendering style (which is based off the conventions of commercial illustrator J.C. Leyendecker) does not permit the use of complete blacks or whites when it comes to shading, especially on characters.

"Shading obeys a warm-to-cool hue shift. Shadows go to cool, not black" - Illustrative Rendering in Team Fortress 2, Valve,Β September 3 2007

Unless you're making films/artwork based around a game with an emphasis on photorealistic rendering (e.g. L4D; HL2; P2; etc) or just about anything that's not TF2, reddish-grey tinted AO is the way to go. Upon trying it myself for the first time, I felt that I was back in 2007 except with better technology.Β Go try it out for yourself and see how the AO complements TF2 characters rather than trying to force down a layer of realism upon a distinct, and thus relatively sensitive rendering style. Remember, you don't need all those REALLY dark shadows.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lolvcrtape In reply to RandomMadnessityfier [2014-05-06 08:12:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh, all right then. Their shading and rendering style did change quite a lot during the making of TF2, and I don't find that quote that fitting anymore. They didn't even have AO on the early Meet the videos, either.

I have to try changing the colour of AO again to see the effect and if it's something I'd like. So far I've been very happy with relatively low and discreet, black AO. I also took a look at your gallery, and didn't really find examples of said coloured AO. Have you already used it in some of your works?

RandomMadnessityfier In reply to lolvcrtape [2014-05-06 12:07:12 +0000 UTC]

At the moment, the closest thing I can provide you with as a piece of work that features theΒ red-tinged AO is thisΒ compilation of comparison images Β which I kept; dating back to December, last year.
