Description

This demon is the seventh piece to be depicted from my Abstractium series of artwork.

The Oxsphinx: It was all around me,my eyes stinging, stumbling blindly asphyxiated by the thick smoke and the intense heat in the moments before my death. The world around me became a blur... and soon all became black. I felt myself awakening as I opened my eyes noticing a bright light in the distance. Drawn to its luminosity and glorious aura I drifted towards it in an oblivious state. Passing through it I felt a sensation unlike anything I've ever experienced before as the light blinded my sight. The light slowly began to dim down,finding myself in another world naked as a warm breeze brushed against my skin. I found myself on a large sort of bridge/balcony but before I looked around something instantly caught my eye. In Front of me a captivating scene of dawn, finding myself lost glazing into this scene of beauty...was I in heaven... I stood there for awhile oblivious to all around me. Soon I felt like I could hear the beating of giant wings coming from below as I thought of the wing beat of an angel. To my right I noticed a nude man who was oblivious as I was. As the sound got closer my curiosity heightened, expecting to be greeted by a heavenly entity a wondrous sensation filled my body. What then revealed itself turned this wonder into a sensation of fear... a giant winged beast rose from the clouds blocking the sun, releasing a deep echoing metallic groan. It flew above us as the man and I stood there motionless in shock, unsure of what we just saw. Its appearance truly frightening, its features elaborate yet intimidating, but in its core I noticed what appeared to be a radiant glowing heart. Looking into the distance towards the end of this bridge we watched in awe as the beast flew towards a giant structure piercing the clouds. I felt drawn to this structure, despite my fear I began to walk with the man towards the building in silence. Thinking to myself,am I really dead,is this my afterlife, is this really heaven...?
This entity is found in one of the floating cities which surround a large towering structure known as “The Oxphix”. This structure is home to the Oxphians who are one of Abstractium's more civilized and intelligent civilizations,being very similar to humans during their developing stages. These entities are distinct and characterized by having a floating head in which the lower half has been completely removed and replaced with a “new vessel” ranging from something seemingly human to monstrous. Their beliefs relate to an idea that the mind should be separate from the body to bring about its fullest potential as they see the body and its functions as a distraction to the mind. They have ascended there bodily form by removing all but the upper half of the skull through the process of “Oxiphication” which is the ritual of separating mind and body. The Oxphians are not hostile towards humans at first and are inviting to them as they protect humans and also lure them into their civilization. They do this as they see humans have qualities similar to their own and the Oxphians seek to experiment on humans and learn about them, even trying to reborn them as an Oxphian through the process of “Oxiphication”. This process is a horrific and extremely painful process for humans to go through that all the Oxphians must go through upon maturity in which the mind is separated from the body using unorthodox methods, not all survive this excruciating process but those who do will experience a mental transcendencey, a feeling and awakening unlike anything ever to be experienced. In the end they become an Oxphian, this process though the ultimate mental awakening does detracts from their emotions,sense of feeling, and their senses resembling that of humanity. Not all humans are experimented on but it is best to stay clear of them as you never know when it will be your turn, but yet this may be also a safehaven from some of the other unpredictable and unknown entities found in the world of Abstractium.

This large frightening flying beast known as the Oxsphinx patrols the outer limits of The Oxphix and guards the main bridge into the city. Its body is covered in an elaborated and detailed armor covered in many etchings and some paintings either relating its origins,they can also be scenes from the Oxphix, or even scenes of stories from the Oxphian 'bible' . Two bodies hang from its chest and one crucified to its tail, the meaning of these are not known but they all have the upper halfs of their head removed. It theory can either be the bodies of Oxphian criminals,important Oxphian figures, or even some select humans, but it is truly unknown. Covered in a special embalming fluid made in the Oxphix the bodies with not break down or be pummeled by the movements of the Oxsphinx. Towards any intruder from elsewhere in Abstractium this beast becomes ferocious and merciless. This powerful beast will use its massive metallic lion-like claws, its scorpion-like tail, and its heart to destroy those others that intrude upon and threaten the Oxphix. The Oxsphinx has a unique weapon unlike most Oxphians as its glowing heart can be used as a powerful weapon and emit beams of devastating energy to decimate foes. A halo of suspended blood hovers over its head as it drifts through the sky...even sometimes it begins to tear blood, there is no known reason for these tears as it could be for anything from tears of suffering, to tears of joy,or tears from memories triggered may they be good or bad.
