Description
What is it about Varan that all you kaiju fans find so appealing? He's weird-looking, has the most bizarre of flight capabilities and has the screen presence of John C. Reilly's left shoe. He's done even less than Gorosaurus, Baragon and Manda. AND he's a total cheap-ass in Godzilla Unleashed.But, I guess he's interesting to draw.
So who's next??

i actually thought up the possibility of the "varan" movie being remade , and i even thought up a concept for it , while the plot itself is virtually unchanged , it does have 4 things different :
1. the butterflies are replaced with bats
2. the dog that the village kid loses is replaced with a pig
3. varan actually has a breath ability in this remake concept
4. the concept includes a character , bullregard "boulder" pimento , a corporate asshole , who would be portrayed by john goodman

A very underrepresented kaiju in toho studios. But also one of the few kaiju who got a standalone film, much like mothra. I never got to play him in any of the games, but I do remember Destroyah being really hard to learn the moveset- all I could use was this horn laser, sword thing in sweeping motions.

i like varan cause i think he looks cool and his flight adaptation fits him well and there are all kinds of strange creatures from the dinosaurs to insects so i think he is a great kaiju and i will show him the respect he desurves

I like Varan, and he is both my favorite monster and my BEST character when I play Godzilla Unleashed!
I don't care about the screen time he has, he looks more original than Gorosaurus (T. rex from King Kong), Baragon (a dog-lizard thingy), and Manda (a giant snake with stubby little @$$ limbs).
PS: I still like the picture, its AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Varan is kickass and has the makings of a great big movie monster, he just hasn't been given his chance to shine.

I know, he ALMOST did though.
In Destroy All Monsters, the suit was damaged, so they had to give him a minimal role. He was also going to be in a scrapped 1972 movie allied with Godzilla against King Ghidorah and Gigan.
Also he was in the original GMK lineup as a guardian monster with Anguirus, but they replaced them with Ghidorah and Mothra because of the name values. godzilla.wikia.com/wiki/Godzil…

Basically, the reasons people like him is the same reasons you mentioned. He's unique.

Not only is he unique, but he just looks flippin' cool too! Plus, he embodies the human fear of being attacked from above (Just like Rodan, and Ghidrah, and Mothra, and Battra and...), so people are slightly freaked and or creeped out by him.

Varan is just appealing to us because he's quite unique from other kaiju.
