Description Sorry, we're all out of shamwows :P

After working on this on and off for a while, I finally finished the guide

Live preview!
Installable Version

Features
  • Popup menus with special divs to control their width - for avatars, text, or stamps
  • A mini gallery for featuring large amounts of thumbs at once
  • Two types of bulleted lists - a regular one and an "indented" one
  • Custom cursors
  • Modified hr so it fits with the rest of the journal nicely
  • A sidebar that stretches down to the bottom without forcing the journal to have a fixed width - a problem I've seen lots of journals have
  • A detailed customization guide, taking you through every step from building the header to what to change with different images

Cheatsheet
  • for the mini gallery
  • for the bulleted list
  • for the indented bulleted list
  • for the "box separator", for section titles

Just a question - it appears that the hover menus seem detached from the bar now. It's happening on yours as well, save for the Chatrooms menu, and it's sort of hard because no one can really click on, say, stamps. Is it a glitch, or a problem with the CSS? o_O

Pyritie In reply to Sage-Wren [2010-01-31 14:09:41 +0000 UTC]

Probably a problem with the new parser #dt installed recently

So I guess it's better to ask them about it then...

Spiralchasm In reply to ??? [2009-12-31 13:37:40 +0000 UTC]

One question regarding this css, because I have many people asking me this thing, if you don't mind! D; How do I return the box with "mood, listening to, eating..." stuff without screwing up the whole css, because when I remove the "display none" part from:

.journalbox .list {
display: none;

it breaks the whole css at the bottom, but the mood box appears lol. :S

Thanks in adavance

Pyritie In reply to Spiralchasm [2009-12-31 13:44:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I couldn't really find a good way for it to be visible without it screwing up everything >__>

Spiralchasm In reply to Pyritie [2009-12-31 13:47:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I tried to play with it a bit too, but also with no success. Eh, I guess I'll have to advice them the good old solution - copy paste the whole mood text at the top of every journal entry! Thanks again

I have a question. How do I edit the CSS with the new way Journal Skins are installed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyritie In reply to ni-chan89 [2009-12-12 16:06:03 +0000 UTC]

You can edit it the way you would with any other skin

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ni-chan89 In reply to Pyritie [2009-12-12 17:02:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh, really? o_o I didn't see that option.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyritie In reply to ni-chan89 [2009-12-12 17:22:12 +0000 UTC]

Should be there! When creating or editing a journal, click on the Options tab at the top.

I'm wondering... is there a way to customize the scrolling bar?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyritie In reply to KachieChanChu [2009-11-16 23:06:10 +0000 UTC]

What do you mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KachieChanChu In reply to Pyritie [2009-11-17 00:19:39 +0000 UTC]

For the boxes? If you post a smaller journal entry, there there is a scroll bar on the side of them. I was wondering if you could change that. I've seen other journals do it, but I couldn't figure it out myself. D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyritie In reply to KachieChanChu [2009-11-17 00:28:29 +0000 UTC]

So do you want to get rid of the scroll boxes or just make it not scroll?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KachieChanChu In reply to Pyritie [2009-11-17 00:46:47 +0000 UTC]

No no I want to change the color of it if it's possible.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Pyritie In reply to KachieChanChu [2009-11-17 01:01:02 +0000 UTC]

Ah. That isn't possible with mainstream CSS at the moment -- it is possible, but 1) I don't think dA lets you use it in journal CSS, and 2) Only Chrome can see it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

This is actually still really confusing. I still don't get it at all. I don't know how to change any of the links, or get rid of stuff that I don't need. I'm acutally really confused...

Pyritie In reply to kokonattsu-n-cream [2009-11-14 20:28:49 +0000 UTC]

There's a little tab on the top labelled "Options" when you edit/submit a journal. Try clicking that!

What do you mean? You shouldn't have to change anything. Just put your thumbs in between the div tags.
