Description *EDIT* Calendar now available through print store-

I am working on a calendar for 's year long contest.  I will be submitting a picture each month based on a different cryptozoological beast of North America.   I've been wanting to give back to my loyal friends and watchers, and I figured, what better way than to offer you a free calendar.  You may download this image for free, for personal use only. Please do not abuse this privilege. When all is said and done, at the end of this year, I hope to make a printed version with dates available in time for 2015. (If this works out well and you guys like it, I may do a world-wide version next year in time for 2016.  I know that is a long way off!)

This month's cryptid is the NASA Gargoyle. I debated on what monster I should do for this month.  I actually had a few different ones in mind, but I finally decided to put in this relatively unknown guy.  I have only come across one story of the NASA Gargoyle, but that is not to say there are no other claims of what is describes as dragon-looking humanoids or real live gargoyles bearing the description of  "bat-like wings outstretched about 8 ft, huge claw-like feet, and a squarish head with huge, sharp teeth".  The NASA Gargoyle was seen perched ominously on one of the buildings , was jet black and appeared to have a cape draped over it's shoulders.

You can read the story of him for yourself here- www.americanmonsters.com/site/…

The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy isn't so bad, it's not any worse than South Park is! At least they're a little more subtle with with their racial stereotypes - like the suicidal Japanese potato you were talking about. Whereas with South Park you get something like this... www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvLuR0…

Ok you obviously didn't know that I'm an Animation Student, so sorry, but your point for me is not valid. I am speaking from an Animation/Animator's point of view, not a consumer's view -.- which yours  happens to be...
Secondly Grim is what I consider horrible because for me if it not entertaining and for me, it literally feels like watching it, is turning me stupid...and if such shows affects me in that way, then I don't really think kids should view it for too long.
Uncle Grandpa is the worst of them all for kids!

I makes no sense what to ever if you compare it to long ago animations like Gargoyles or Courage the Cowardly Dog, Aaaahhhh Real Monsters, Cow and Chicken, Ducktales, and all those other animation that were really great to watch, that even adults liked them.

South Park however is an Adult Animation, Everybody knows that, and you'd have to be beyond stupid to allow kids to view it, much less Robot Chicken and some animes that are more for teens plus -.-

Whoa there! Take an anti-depressant and calm down, I wasn't trying to be a dick. If you found that that little South Park clip I sent to you as a link to be offensive, then I apologize. The point I was trying to make is, it's just morbid humor. Some people have it, some people don't... Obviously you're one of those people who don't because if you did, you would've known that I was just kidding. Besides, Billy & Mandy is a spinoff of the older cartoon Grim & Evil, which had been around since early 2000.

I was only eight back then, so essentially it has been around for about as long as Courage the Cowardly Dog was; which first aired in 1999. You as an animator should know that Billy & Mandy is not that new. You literally listed off almost all the shows I grew up watching as a little kid - and yes, I even watched South Park when I was that young... Are my parents stupid for allowing me to watch it? No. Because it's just a TV show, and nothing about it is meant to be taken seriously.

Also I agree with you, Uncle Grandpa is - fucking - retarded! Usually the first thought that comes to mind when the words "uncle" and "grandpa" are both used to refer to the same person, I think of incest, and that is wrong on so many levels. Especially when it's on a TV channel that plays cartoons intended for younger audiences. I would rather let my kids watch the shows I grew up watching than allow them to watch the crap we have on air today...

Technically you are being a dick, cuz you replied to my post that was specifically directed to my good friend pyro -.-
In the first place I never asked you to join my conversation -.- This is something I CANNOT stand -.-
Secondly, YOU take an anti-depressant and chill, since you know oh so much about prescription pills and their effects on a regular person -.-

Third, I did not watch your clip. I don't need to cuz I have seen South Park myself -.-. As I had said before South Park is for Adults.... What the fuck does this target audience Animation have to fucking do with what I am talking about? If you watched it as a kid and your parents did nothing, good for you. Look how you turned out -.- And to piss you off some more, yes, your parents were stupid, cuz if they could dare think "oh it's just a show", then they should have allowed you to watch porn, hentai and Animes like MD Geist, Wicked City, Perfect Blue and Kimera etc -.-

What you don't get is that I am trying to say that content back then is not like how it is now -.-

Original concepts is also another fucking topic by itself. DID YOU SEE EITHER ONE OF US BRING THIS TOPIC UP? NO

If you don't understand what is going on in a conversation between two people, don't you think it is best not to get involve? Geeze -.- I can't believe it still has disrespectful people like you, who willingly add yourself to conversations that have nothing to do with you -.-

Hakielplz In reply to Anisa-Mazaki [2014-07-17 00:21:33 +0000 UTC]

HAHA! Thought you could get away with blocking me before I make my point? You're a special kind of stupid aren't you? So, as I was going to say before I realized you blocked me for no legitimate reason - like a fucking coward - this is obviously going nowhere. Really, blocking me wasn't even necessary. I was already done with this discussion before you sent me your last reply, so joke's on you! I was done talking anyway...

I just wanted to have a friendly chat about cartoons, but you just wanted to argue and be a bitch; you're not Pyro's only friend you know? What I don't understand is, how was I being a dick for doing what literally everyone else on DeviantArt does? And by that I mean talking to other people while they're having a conversation with someone else. I'm pretty sure you yourself have done that as well - you'd be a liar if you said you didn't. Oh, and for future reference, instead of being rude and trying to explain why you're right, why don't you just quit being so uptight and actually ACT like a mature adult and just ignore me like a normal person would?

Because judging by that long-ass comment that I actually decided to take the time to read instead of deleting it and moving on - I'd say you're acting like a spoiled-rotten bratty teenager with PMS... Also, the next time you decide to call somebody immature, it would be best to not actually insult somebody while calling them that, or their family. I didn't insult your family by calling them stupid, so why did you insult mine? And you say I'm disrespectful... Bitch please! You're a fucking hypocrite, you need to take a look at yourself before passing judgment onto others because all of the shit that you said only made you sound more like an asshole than a logical person.

So I jumped in on your little conversation with Pyro, how does that make me a bad guy? The only reason I decided to even speak to you was because I thought you'd be cool enough to have a friendly discussion about how cartoons nowadays are going completely downhill. Looks like I was wrong, in fact, you're the first person who's EVER made a big deal about someone talking to you - despite the fact that you were talking to someone else. I'm kind of surprised actually, most people don't have a problem with it. But you on the other hand, you've got issues!

I suggest you grow up and learn how to treat other people with some respect. I think now I know where your parents went wrong in raising you... I'll bet you my left nut that you grew up with everything handed to you, your behavior seems likewise. Sorry we couldn't see eye-to-eye, I hope you have a wonderful day... and I mean that.

That is somewhat true, but then again a lot of the stuff we watched as kids was pretty messed up too like Rocko and Ren & Stimpy.. it's amazing what some of those shows got away with.  You're right though, they probably won't ever bring it back, and even if they did it would be totally revamped I'm sure, and probably nowhere near as good.

Anisa-Mazaki In reply to pyro-helfier [2014-07-16 19:21:31 +0000 UTC]

True, but even so the screwed up stuff was still...."subtle" and "covered up" Like Betty Boop for instance. The first time I saw one of the episode for the sake of Animation to understand the Male Gaze, I almost screamed becasue I couldn't believe these guys made her as a Kids show... They put her in a short ass skirt, her breast lines were showing and it was very sexualized, and it took people 20 yrs or so to catch on before they banned it and the studio had to change it....

In class I got to see one that was just....wow
It was one where she looked like a little girl in a circus and the Cirus boss comes and he's sexually rubbing her legs and shit and when she's running away, the villian is grabbing her ass and pulling her back into the tent...

As a kid, you dont know what that means so you think that by doing it in real life, it's ok...But we as adult who have been there in the bedroom with whom ever, you know, we know....and that's not something to show kids yet till they are of the appropriate age...

Personally as I grew up, I never liked Betty Boop even though I never saw any of the animation until last yr... Anytime I saw an image it was as if they trying to say she's this big headed bimbo slut icon

The Plague Dogs was an animation film I recently viewed....Today I'm just going WTF! were they thinking??? Cuz this is not appropriate for kids.

Some of Disney's works was wrong as well, but they had their stuff "covered up" until you'd view it many times to notice everything eles other than the main characters and the story....
Like this one > powet.tv/powetblog/wp-content/…
It could be a knee or it could be the priest really had an erection...

Or Pochontas....
As a kid I knew something was wrong with that film but until now I realise what it is...other than the fact that I'm not into romancey fake crap...

Yeah pretty much.... Take Kill la Kill anime for instance.... That was once of the worst animes I ever viewed. I was only able to hold on cuz of the storyline.... but that is the worst Male Gaze shit I ever saw while they tried to used Female Empowerment...

So for me, as a girl it comes like, So I must dress like a prostitue, just to declare that I am powerful and I show that women can be strong too??? Nope no....That's where you crossed the line, because there is no way, you could get and Indian Woman or Muslim Woman to do that shit. No way.

You make a lot of good points there.  I have to say a lot, if not most, of the women in animation are idealized and/or sexualized some more so than others.  Betty Boop is obviously up there and Jessica Rabbit put it over the top.

Anisa-Mazaki In reply to pyro-helfier [2014-07-16 22:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Yep, that is the Male Gaze.... Its so sad that there is so much of it too, even in people's anime drawings. even mine, which I have to fix when I re-draw everything over into digital line art works.

However since 2008 - 2010, there have been a few conventions that have been trying to reduce this and just promote female empowerment or strong females. They highlighted Claymore as one of them.

I recently watched claymore and I don't think it should be there becasue of the design of their outfits
Look > amazingstoriesmag.com/wp-conte…

You can clearly see their crutch area -.- So then what is the point of the metal skirt piece then??
and in two scenes they put Male Gaze into this, like the shot where you could see the underneath of the one of them....You literally just she the crutch line in the pants....or the kiss scene with this character and the racky boy... They made her lip predominant after she kissed him. I didn't get that....

Another thing I found was...their suit tricks you. I am so accustom to seeing the top half or a swim suit type or armour, with that base point design and thus you always think, that's where crutch area is, but then underneath that they have the pants and metal skirt  design.... So...what? They have 2 crutches or what???
This is what happens when try to be "unique" in design sigh...

They are still trying thought to promote more neutral and female gaze, but it'll take a long while before true success arrives

I see what you mean.  She's covered, but the armor is skin tight so what's the point? Then there's the class of thought that women should be able to wear whatever they want without being objectified. It shouldn't matter if a female is wearing a skirt, shorts or baggy pants, because it wouldn't matter if that character was male.  That's how to achieve true neutral gaze.  It's more of what you read into it than what is actually there or not sometimes.

I had no idea this back and forth was going on in the comments here.  I would prefer not to be drug into drama. I don't think he meant to offend you in any way at first but obviously there was some sort of misunderstanding involved somewhere and this whole thing quickly spun out of control.  I cannot control anyone's actions obviously, but I can ask him not to respond to you any further and I can hide all these comments if you want.

I know you didn't know, that's why I was super pissed off yesterday.

Better to hide then and there is no need to ask him for anything, we have blocked each other.... and I don't care.

What makes this person more stupid, for me personally is that he wrote in the last comment: "I was responding to Pryo's comments."
So in my journal I cussed this bastard out for being stupid, because if he was replying your comments, You would be the one to get his replies via notification. NOT ME
For me to get your notifications, you would have to deliberately click on my comments to respond.

Secondly, he said "I just wanted to join a conversation about Cartoons"
WTF! What you an I are discussing is not Cartoons. We are discussing Animation Content on a whole, because eventually I would have mentioned Anime, which is also going down hill in terms of content -.- If this person wanted to talk about cartoons so much, he should have gone to the forums or a poll. IT HAS LOTS THERE FOR GOD SAKE!!

Third: Not everybody on DA cuts into other people's conversation. Some of us have something called respect for each other's space! This person obviously did not. Even in real life you don't do shit like that.

So I'm a spoiled teen on PMS? WTF? Look who's the jerk telling people to take anti-depressants and chill!

And there was no joke on anybody.

And you giving me advice on how to reply to conversation. This person really is an asshole. Why the hell he didn't use his own advice!? but you're so quick to talk. And now you want to apologize!!! Kiss my @##!! You Jerk (is angry again)
