Description
Each one of my pendants is handmade using a naturally polished semi-precious gemstone nestled in a high quality non-toxic sculpting compound that dries to a durable stone-like finish. It is then lovingly painted in acrylics and sealed with a hard protective gloss that makes it smooth to the touch and gives it a beautiful shine. This wonderfully detailed turtle is designed to hang at a natural angle that looks so life-like he might crawl away! He comes strung on a ribbon and cord necklace so he will be ready to wear when he arrives at his new home. (Which is great for everyday wear, or he can be dressed up for special occasions when put on a nice silver chain.)

This little guy is called Sapling because of his tree-like coloration.

Each piece is a labor of love, crafted by me, and can take many hours to create. I select each stone individually and sculpt around it taking its natural shape into acount. I then painstakingly paint each one, in layers, picking colors and patterns inspired by nature and designed to bring out the subtle beauty of the gemstone. Since my pendants are designed to look as great from the back as they do from the front, the painting must be done in stages allowing one side to dry before I can paint the other, and having to flip it several times. Finally, after all the painting is complete, I coat it with a few layers of glaze to make sure that all that hard work is thoroughly protected. As a last step, I string each little work of art onto a necklace so that it is ready to wear right out of the package.
