This is still a work in prgress, but I wanted to get it up in time for 's gods and mythology contest.

This is based off the Egyptian god Anubis and Greek mythological creature Cerberus. Here's the story I came up with for this piece as I was painting it-

"There is a long history of violent wars fought between the Greek and Egyptian gods over rule of the people, inscribed on the walls of ancient buildings and tombs. After many centuries of enduring these Great Wars, eventually the Egyptian gods were defeated, cast down, and Zeus was crowned 'God of all Gods' both Greek and Egyptian. However, an unseen war lie in wait. Hades, Lord of the Underworld and Keeper of the Dead, longed to overthrow his brother Zeus, and claim the thrown for himself. He sought to enlarge his army, and when the Egyptian gods were defeated, Hades secretly called on one of them to aid him in his quest. A dark pact was formed in which Anubis, trafficer of souls, was allowed to keep his power in order to bring Hades more soldiers for his masses. In addition, Anubis was given reign over a massive beast, Hades' three headed guard dog,Cerberus. Legend has it that thousands of miles below the Valley of Kings, there lies a 'Great Tomb'. There is no Pharoah buried there, and no mortal man has ever seen it. It is nothing but a large catacomb far beneath the earth which houses the gate to the underworld itself; hidden there by the Greek god Hades in order to keep his secret plans of an uprising burried."

* edit the color on this looks terrible.. in phtotshop this has a nice dark atmosphere... how can I fix it to look like that here? Can anyone tell me? I think it's because I turned it into a jpeg. What can I do to help it?
