Honestly the worst thing this website does is convince people they need a 'good reason' to block someone; whether its, being mentioned in a comment saying "oh you blocked me for practically no reason!" (seriously get over yourselves people who do this) or just the general like mindedness of deviants who think its shameful, or cowardly to block someone. If you're being harassed or bullied, that's what the block tool is for. Shit, you can block for anyreason you feel fit. Don't let others control what you think is right.Related content

There's a limit on the number of users that you can block, so I can see why some people would suggest having a good reason to do so.
However, it's still your account and thus, your own business. I never did understand the drama behind the whole thing. Like, move on.Β

I agree. The limit is 500, haha I enjoy reading FAQs, I know it's silly. Yeah exactly, especially since the internet is not at all like real life. You won't just run into someone you dislike or have had a disagreement with. That's why my list is empty. I think. If not, it will be.

Nah, not silly at all. I really wish more users did read the F.A.Q.! Ignorance is such a pain and I always feel so silly without researching something beforehand. Like, do I ask what could be an obvious and overly asked question and annoy the community or do I take the time to learn about the community before I ask anything? It's a pretty sensible thing to learn as much as you can before acting out on a thought. I didn't even know about the cap until I reached the limit. Β

Nah, I had someone attacking me on tumblr and the hate transferred over to dA. Someone was really upset that I was friends with popular and well-known artists on hereΒ who kept gifting me art because we were really close. The person on tumblr said that the only reason they were my friends or gave me any time of day was because I gave them money and points as gifts when I just wanted to help support them and their work. Sadly, this certain blog is seen by a lot of users on dA and... wave after wave happened. Just pointless anger and hate from strangers.
I don't bother blocking anymore. My list is empty.
I'm happy here and I have good friends who care about me.
That's enough for me. I usually end up joking with the trolls and it ends on a good note.
If it doesn't, I use logic and that usually shuts them up. If that doesn't work, I just ignore them.
Life goes on. They're not worth the stress. Β

You're absolutely right. I've heard about hate from tumblr following people to da and seen several friends transfer accounts because of it. Nowadays if I'm bothered, I just don't bother to reply. It really makes them feel like they're talking to a wall and eventually they go away.

Exactly. The only problem is when other friends or watchers try to defend you. If they get attention from anyone because of their comments, they succeed in what they set out to do. I don't have any artwork uploaded here anymore, but when I did and felt that this would happen, I just disabled comments until I felt the storm had passed.

Yeah, as flattered as I was, seeing my watchers attack a deviant really made me feel kind of embarrassed. Especially since the deviant would think I had asked for it to be done.

It is embarrassing. I mean, I know their hearts are in the right place and offline, nobody ever bothered to defend me from the bullies. So it can be touching! Buuut... I don't want to watch my friends being attacked in my place. I don't want to watch them get banned along with the troll when insults fly, y'know? Like, it's just not worth it. A war rarely ever is - especially one that is online. I want to spread happiness and positivity. Not stress or negativity. That's not cool.

Exactly. I was watching Graveyardgirl's video/rant about people not utalizing the block button when they are getting into uncomfortable situations. Tbh I was one of thhose users that would threatedn to use the block button (that was soooo long ago). So maybe not utalizing the block is a new user thing...

I tell the person who's trying to argue that I'm done, and if they continue they'll be blocked. If they continue, I block them.

I totally agree. I use to play Game of War, and I was in this kingdom with shitty rulers, so I talked a lot of smack talk to one of their members, and I got all these threatening emails from their members, so I blocked them and noticed there were members who hadn't sent any emails to me, so I blocked them as well, in precaution.

Yes! The block tool is there for deviants to block anyone bothering them. If it were frowned upon to use it, the site would become full of hate, because people don't want to look like cowards.

People have different standards of good reasons.
A good reason to me could just be that you are making me uncomfortable, even if you think you're not. If I try to tell you once, yet you continue acting that way, I will block you because I don't like it and I warned you once. Simple as that. Right??

Yes exactly! If someone is trying to start crap or is in an argument with me for like days I block them because I am having none of that. I try to keep my list empty, and if I have to block someone, I clear it maybe a week later.

The only time I've ever kept people there is if I KNOW the person will start shit with me again if they found out I unblocked them.
I used to have an old friend that found any and all of my accounts on any website and just sent me lots of hate after he randomly started hating me.

So I had to block all of his accounts so he wouldn't bother me anymore. I know that he watches what I do on deviantArt and anywhere else he knows I have an account, so I have to keep him blocked because I don't want to deal with his BS. ;~;// He's a big troll. So thinking that the world revolves around them and ASSUMING I'd go out of my way to enforce my opinion on them..they pre block me?
The only reason why I would even step on their page is if I saw them on my page first. Ye' my little visitor's list..I like to click on the new faces I see on my page. Key word their *new*, meaning I've never ran into this person before..never met them, seen then, contacted them. Meaning they came to my page FIRST. Their icons popping up is what intrigued me to go onto their page. And lo and behold..I'm blocked..Meaning I was blocked because of something they got all hurtbutt over on MY PAGE..meaning MY PERSONAL OPINION that has nothing to do with them. Hell I'd understand if I was forcing this opinion on someone..or maybe even posted it through a deviation (Somewhat), but no..it's an opinion on my own page that they were offended by..thus decided to pre block before even getting to know me.
