Let us say, that your skill is far in advance than the standard admirers of your works. I thought at times of learning digital or traditional art. But when I found my creative nitch, writing, I thought I would just try to make money so I can help out other artists instead.
The writing is coming along. Money may still be about a year in the future. But you are indeed an artist.

That comment probably comes from having a brother who's a "real" artist (as in, has had his work displayed in art galleries and published in commercial art books)

As I told one writer's guide person. She thought she wasn't really welcome there, since she's only done non-fiction. But as I pointed out, if you write, your a writer.
Same with one who creates art. Your an artist, and I consider you a fine artist
