First off, sorry if I answer this wrong because your question doesn't make much sense to me...

If you're using photoshop, or even gimp, All you have to do is make a new layer with that color, change the settings. It automatically fits to the size of your canvas size, because your picture IS the canvas size.

I love collecting these its always presented so well and simple to understand.
Thanks for taking the time out to do this, maybe you should think about putting this together in some sort of eBook? I bet ppl may even buy that or even put on a web site.
I saw someone do this before with a pastel tutorial they did.
