Description
Notes: I suggest drawing all the hands here (just for practice)....and see if you guys improve or notOh, and on another note, never try to hide the hands when drawing a picture. After all, forcing yourself to draw them on a body is the best way to practice ^^.
Finally, never be afraid to use references. Use your own hands if you must (unless your hands are like mine...fat and chubby and generally unappealing), or take a picture of someone's hand. Imagination and memory can only take the technical side of drawing to a certain point until you have drawing enough to master it.
-----------
Sorry, it's a bit big. These hands were compiled in a week's time through observing people and drawing hands in life-drawing
Also, I'm not a professional (yet xD;; ), so there still may be mistakes in my drawing. but I tried my best ^^.
People has been asking me for a tutorial and I've been meaning to do one for...the longest time, ever.
I know there are a lot of hand tutorials out there, but since it's my favourite body part to draw, I though, "why not?". I personally can't get enough of looking at different tutorials on doing stuff, so....yah
I hope it's helpful even a little. The references at the bottom are for everyone to look at and, well, reference, if need be.

Great reference! I'm going to try to draw all these. Hopefully I'll improve and I can stop looking for excuses to hide people's hands

thanks for the tutorial! I always wondered why my wrists looked very...pipe like. was forgetting that lil bastard the ulna. probably because I tend to draw my own hands and well, that lil bone below the pinky doesn't show up! (its so weird, its nearer the back of my hand...)
so I dunno if this tutorial helped or made me self conscious >D but thanks for it either way.

It's a good reference sheet, but for a beginner in the hand-drawing business it's like showing Mona Lisa to them and saying "There. Draw this"

actually, i think referencing mona lisa would be good too. referencing anything would be great; it's just a great way to start, with references. i mean, you can't really just conjure up realism from nothing; everything starts with references when it comes to realistic art.

actually... starting with references is... good... kind of... but for some people (like me) it's just impossible! I've been trying to draw hands and I could never succeed! Not even now! And look at my gallery - it's just embarrassing! They must my nemesis or something...

See, that's not a great attitude to take xD~ also, you're hiding your hands a lot. Have you tried copying every hand I've drawn on here? Try doing 100 hands, just hands; use references from art, photos, whatever. just draw them, and see if you improve or not. This isn't something you can rush. everyone improves at a different pace, but I'm 99% sure that practicing 100 hands will help. It helped with my feet-drawing

Thank you for your advice about the quick reference sketching and then finishing, I've had issues trying to find a good "quick and dirty get it there" style. I can't wait to try it!

I really hate the thumb, LOL. It's so easy to fuck it up--especially when it's at an angle or foreshortened.
Anyways, thanks! This is really helpful!
