Artist's Commentary
Well, here's yer bonus one Azuva! This one's actually kinda funny because I hated this one about the time I finished the first one. Then I spent forever and a half trying about six different ways to get that wind-blown effect on the fur before I finally figured out one that didn't just make her look fluffy. Then I revamped the waterfall and fell in love with it. Not enough color, though, and I think the pink/purple stuff looks a little desperate.

Honestly, I probably spent as much or more time just doing the character as everything else. Ridiculous. Oh, and my final headache was when I added Azuva's markings I realized that her tail (which I had previously spent a lot of time on) blended right in with the background! No contrast! I spent a long time trying to make lighting on the fur work, a light bush behind her, etc., before I finally opted for adding some heavy mist/atmosphere behind her.

Anyway, long story short I hope you like it!

WOW. May I just say, I am extremely impressed! This is a piece of art showing great talent, time, and devotion. The intricate detail and hard work really paid off, I can actually see the wind blown fur on the wolf. The detail in the forest, my god, the shadow in every leaf adds depth and personality. I like how you kind of changed the texture from trees and leaves to rocky moss. I also like the colors you chose for this scene, the black tip on the wolfs tail gives the wolf more character.

The waterfall is absolutely beautiful! I LOVE how you did the mist spraying off the rock and into the air, it adds a tough of realism and it makes the whole painting more dreamy. I can almost hear the water falling and splashing!

Con-

I really don't have much to tell you in this area. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that the forest seems a little blockish...which is not even that big of a deal. I'm not sure if you meant it to be like this or not, but there seems to be lines of leaves running through the trees and bushes, making it look like sections or levels.

---

I hope this was helpful, I can't wait to see more art from you! This one was defiantly a quick fave!!!

Just downloaded it. THIS IS ENORMOUS! Wicked background, the shades of green are realistic, but pretty (I don't find most natural greens pretty, these are done very well and you should be proud of yourself).

Haha, I like to work with a lot of definition, especially since this type of art is meant to be viewed printed out on a 20-30 inch wide poster. And thanks for the compliment on the color theory! That's something I often worry about.
