I want to share my tutorial to help fellow cosplayers if they ever need it ^_^

there are grooves cut into the 2 sides

I've used the insulation foam from home depot for something similar, but how did you get the wooden rod in? Did you drill a hole or something because any time I've tried sticking something into foam board it barley budges lolΒ

I cut grooves into the pieces before sandwiching them and gluing the two pieces together.
The grooves should be half the diameter of the rod deep and look like a semicircle from the side. For me, I made them go like 3 inches into the blade.

1/2 inch thick so that makes the final sword 1 inch thick.

I got it from Curry's, but you can also use insulation foam (the purple one) from Home Depot

i used 1/2 inch thick foam board for the main sword because it's nice and sturdy and wont loose its shape
the craft foam is for the details because it's thin and easy to cut and shape

yeah almost everything is made of foam board
the craft foam is more like an optional decoration
