Description
Loosely based on a CnC Mammoth tank. This was intended to be for a contest, but I've decided otherwise. Just a useless asset for now. Wallpaper sized (widescreen). Blender 3d, Gimp 2.6.10, Lux Renderer.New rendered version here: [link]

great model, but if you added ambient occlusion when rendering the render would look twice as good Just a tip

Lux is unbiased. I enjoy feedback and hearing how others view my stuff so based on yours and a few others comments, I tried this for fun last night: [link] I'd be curious to hear your opinion. Thanks for the comment.

Well, you seemingly misused/wasted much time rendering it in Lux. It looks like made of cartboard, and is poorly shaded - looks very flat. Textures are sterile, try adding some more detail (damage, dirt, etc). If flat/slightly cartoonish look is what you want, then you wasted much time, because, as far as I know, Lux takes much time rendering (well, unbias...), and you could achieve such effect in BI in 5-10 minutes.

I appreciate the constructive criticism, and I will speak to it. This wasn't intended to be a hyper-realistic render, nor something I actually planned to complete. The time to render in Lux is significantly reduced when using matte materials with bitmap mappings. If I remember correctly this one was near enough completion 140%eff with only around 66 S/px in under 5 minutes... either way, I let Lux run while I sleep, so it's not really wasting time. Regarding the BI, yes, it is about the same, but the but the contrast and spectrum fall short. A combination of lights and AI, the BI AO just doesn't hold up to unbiased. This creates a "pop" in color that the BI can't achieve without composite or post processing. Sure you can bake the AO and map it to the UV, but this extra effort literally is a waste of time if you can just let Lux calculate it while you sleep. All in all, Lux was not chosen for any reason, I just wanted to use it and preferred the output.
As for grunge, yes, easy enough to map, but I went for showroom floor (hence the glossy floor). Had it been a full scene in environment, I would have done a grunge and spec layer.
Again, all good points and I thank you for taking the time to write .

I like these, great models and texturing. I remember the mammoth tank from Tiberian Sun, great game. Superb work

Thank you! Your Joan came out awesome! I think I'm going to have to try that tutorial too and see if I can morph her to Princess Zelda >.< I like how your head topology came out too, well done.

lol, not to give away my age, but the original is still my favorite. The mammoth is hands down my favorite ground unit of all time.

Yeah, if I recall right, Firestorm didn't actually had Mammoth tanks in it. But there was an unofficial patch adding them along many other units.
Anyway, I always assumed assumed you're way older than me
Your nice website kinda confirms that.
