Brick on a Ropeβ„’

For maximum effectiveness use only the best!

This is a little tribute to Tracy Butlers wonderful comic series Lackadaisy [link]

If you have not read this comic I urge you to do so, there has never been a comic with so much historical reference and period lingo with a storyline as great as this, and all of it well executed with anthropomorphic cats, the humour is in the wit and the sight gags, and is still able to be an intelligent read that will keep you wanting more!

So check out Tracys gallery here on , and her website, read the comic from page 1 if it's new to you, you wont be disappointed!

Model: Pekoe T Cat

The car is my own 1931 Pontiac Sport Sedan [link] [link]

Aha! So you're the one responsible for getting me hooked on Lackadaisy!

I started by going to the Lackadaisy website and read about the characters, then followed your tip to start reading from page 1 and just finished Volume I with Lackadaisy Daybreak, then went back and reviewed the characters again. By that time I had forgotten where I found the reference for Lackadaisy and finally remembered "Brick on a Rope" in one of the pages and remembered your photo. Q: Pekoe T Cat does have a resemblance to Freckle - how is he with a chopper?

Lackadaisy is nothing but brilliant! Yes, the sight gags, language, characters, story, historical reference, cats, the period feeling, and everything! I'm not old enough to have been around during Prohibition but I grew up in Chicago where Al Capone was still a hero in the 50's and the . . . umm, family still has quite some influence (without going into how I may or may not know anything about that). As a kid I soaked up all the tales about those wild days and love the music from the 20's and 30's. St. Louis being just downriver from Chicago, a lot of the same types of things happened. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago is right across the street from the famous Valentine's Day garage.

Now my problem is . . . what's to be come of me when I finish reading Volume II? I know, Tracy is making more - but I'm used to reading a half dozen or more pages a day - it's like an addiction. What am I gonna do?

I now have to construct my own "Brick on a Rope" but I'll use a red Chicago brick. Wonder what my sister will say when I ask her to get and ship to me a good used Chicago red brick without explaining why? Then I'll photograph it with our resident cat, who does have a resemblance to Rocky in attitude and appearance.

I am quite willing to take the blame for that addiction!

I too am not from that area or that area, but it seems to be something that just feels right for me, I had a lot of family involved in speakeasy's and rum running back in the day, we were involved in a lot of that sort of thing...

Have you bought the Lackadaisy book yet?

Yes, you need a Brick on a rope, a photo like that would be awesome, maybe we could start a new fad!
