Description
So very delayed pic forI wanted to give her a proper fanart when she published her Water Tribe comics (which I love to pieces), but a surgery, a broken ankle and the hell of a stressful academic year forbid me to do so
As I've said before, I love the way she draws and portrays Azula in those comics. This is my little tribute to her awesome work with Zhao, Azula, Nauja and the rest of her amazing cast of characters :3
Done with the help of my lovely friend who corrected all of my flaws in the drawing and coloring of the piece, lent me her awesome tablet and spend a lot of time and patience with me.

Awesome picture, makes me think of an alternate universe Azula....imagine if she had taken Zuko's path and spend a few years with Iroh. I do enjoy it

You know, technically flawless, it certainly is Azula here. Except it looks like she's been on a vacation at Lake Laogai. Or maybe she's posing as having been "rehabilitated." I certainly don't imagine her like this the day she's actually rehabilitated. There's no fire in her expression.

Well, I won't say it's flawless. And for the record she hasn't been to that rehab or to Lake Laogai, I wasn't pretending to draw her like that.
One of the things I am certain about my art is that I need to improve it a lot, would you be kind enough to show me how to do and draw that "Fire" you talk about?

I hope you do know that I'm not hating on you here, right? I'm just trying to elaborate on what I meant with "fire" as you asked me to, and I'll repeat what I essentially already said before: I think your drawing is perfect Avatar art style, from what I as a non-artist can tell, and that's pretty cool.
You know, I just worry when others obviously are so offended by me.

My goodness, what do you take me for, some sort of artist?! I can't show anyone how to draw, though I guess I can suggest *what* to draw.
Those eyes are wide and honest. Not very Azula, to say the least. She usually has quite narrow eyes.
Her smile is... light. Slight. She's like, totally in peace with herself and the world, dude. She's not smirking, barring her teeth, or triumphantly pulling her lips all the way across the back of her skull (she really does have a big mouth, if you notice, perhaps to signify her being a humongous liar...) so everyone within range of sight can see how pleased she is with her latest evil scheme. It's a pleasantly bland smile.
And I guess the pose is part of it. What is she doing? It is like she's giving you a tour of some place and pointing out the sights of interest. Like a tour guide (the pleasantly bland smile may be another factor in this impression of mine). Again, not very Azula. I sincerely encourage originality, Azula doesn't have to be firebending or scheming or raving like a lunatic all the time. But Azula the tour guide is so out of the left field that there's nothing to connect with, no punchline and no point. I guess it's just a random pose to draw her in, and that's okay. But it doesn't do anything besides being some pose because she has to be in a pose.
I can't think of anything else. Well, I'm getting random flashbacks to some TV series I have no idea what was, something I must have watched for god knows what reason. Anyway, there's an art class comparing paintings. And there's a picture of some hands, and one of a backpack. And the teacher says something about the hands having no character, just being a pair of hands out of nowhere, whereas the backpack is clearly used and scratched and threadbare. It has character, or context or whatever. The main character begs to differ, though I can't remember correctly.
But anyway, I guess I was reminded of that randomness because this picture is quite blank. And Azula and her clothes and spotless, even of emotion. This could probably be considered a generally bad thing, but I am very hesitant to say even that much, because it's F****** art we're talking about here, and not mathematics.
But now that I've moved out on this tangent, I don't feel well posting with without sharing something I read recently. It's rather philosophical and you may never need it, but it made an impression on me: You know how people used to get their portraits done by painters who could make incredibly lifelike a realistic pictures? Those artists all lost their jobs when the camera was invented. Then they invented surrealism (I think, too lazy to wiki) and it was all about re-interpreting reality - that's what the paint and drawing mediums could still do: Put the artists vision of reality as seen through their eyes on the canvas. And that's apparently what art is supposed to be today - individual interpretation. Otherwise you can just take a photo (or on this case, a screenshot).
And now I'm going to shut up. Hope this helps a little.

I think that your interpretation of Azula is yours, and it can be good. But Nayara can draw HER INTERPRETATION of Azula HER OWN WAY.
Because at least she IS an artist.
If you have so much free time to go an criticise a person with that LACK of education you can shove your opinion up your ass.
And, let me tell you something i don't think you really understand. A painter who does realistic shots and an animator who makes screencaps ARE ARTISTS.
the people who take screenshots (that would be YOUR grup) can not even BEGIN TO IMAGINE how hard it is to do, for example, a fake screencap and even make people doubt about if it's a real one.
Nayara did a wonderful job with her fanart. And yes, she can have flaws, everyone does, I DO HAVE A LOT. But i don't go telling people such a coward, disrespectful things.
What comes around, goes around. Stop trolling and go watch TV or something, stop bothering people who are trying hard.
oh, and one last thing. If you decide to answer me, i'll just say one thing in advance.

Amazingly done. Definitely a worthy tribute to artist and comic. I'm sure Rufftoon will love it.
