Description
Hokay: a map of a Civ game by Faeelin over on alternatehistory.com. I may have gone more by the maps he gave me than the description, which was this...[I]It's 1800, and the Hanseatic League formed the nucleus for a United, liberal, protestant Germany, whose colonies in North America (the Freistatt) stretch from the Arctic Circle to the Missisippi. In Europe, the League has found itself at the center of a major empire by accident, after it used the levee en masse and the world's most sophisticated financial system to kick the shit out of the Russo-austrian alliance. The Portuguese, meanwhile, have control of Australia, the Philippines, and OTL Indonesia, which will certainly not form the nucleus for a *communist anticolonial state in 150 years.
The Ottomans still rule Ukriane through their Crimean vassals, and Scandinavia has eaten Norway. (Copenhagen survives as part of the Hanseatic League). The English conquered Mesoamerica, after an initial Spanish invasion fell apart, but the region is now revolting against the absolutist Lancasters who rule the British Isles. Spain rules the Southern Cone, while the French hold Colombia/Guyana.
Castille (spain was enver unified, which served the Italians poorly against the Grand Turk) ruled the Low Countries for several centuries, but in the 1760s the Dutch Patriots, armed with Hanseatic assistance, threw them out. The Low Countries are loosely associated with Germany, being somewhat poorer than OTL during this time period (while Germany is richer). France also experienced a Time of Troubles, and the Castillians still hold Roussillion. On the other hand, they managed to grab Luxembourg and Brabant.
China, divided into warring states after the Ming finally tottered in the 1720s, seems to be rife for foreign expansion. What people haven't realized is that the Zhou dynasty is very, very eager to buy Western guns and toys from the Germans, who are interloping on the Chinese Trade that the Portuguese used to dominate. I can send a few snapshots next week when I get back from vacation.

It seems that in the case of Iran (Persia) the Afsharid dynasty has endured and Nader Shah's plans have been successful. In OTL, Nader Shah which sometimes is called Napoleon of the East, had many achievements and future plans that align with time timeline's 1800 pretty well! He invaded Mugal India and conquered Delhi but he didn't keep it since his army was not large enough to occupy the nation...his eastern conquest was similar to the eastern borders of this Persia..and finally, he wanted to create a powerful navy to conquer Zanzibar and the Swahili coast to fight colonial powers.

Interestingly this map inspired me to try a Hansa Game for EU4. Β I don't think I've ever had a game where I've had so much money, like I've started hiring mercenaries I don't need just to try and make things more challenging.
Currently 1500, the next few hundred years should be very fun indeed!

Scotland never joined with England in this timeline, and when this worlds version of the English Civil war went poorly for the Parliament, the Scots were happy enough to back them in the north, leading to a divided England with the French backing the Monarchy in the south. Later the North English adopted the (protestant) Scottish monarch as their own to give them more international legitimacy, but although the Scottish king is also king in north England, his power is rather less than in Scotland, with the North English parliament more powerful on its own home soil (think the Georges in Hanover vs Britain). This is leading to an unfortunate (from the Scottish monarchy's point of view) popular demand for a stronger Parliament in _Scotland_.
