Description Did a map for Lord Roem's "La Isla Blanca" over on alternatehistory.com  www.alternatehistory.com/discu…  global detail considerably expanded by the Intercontinental Almanac in the e-book version [1] and a couple emails from the man himself.

This is a world where the Armada was slightly more successful and took control of the Isle of Wight, which became a sort of Spanish Gibraltar in the south of England. Butterflies flap vigorously (and hands wave  ) and over the next few centuries England's history takes on an oddly OTL (Our Time Line) -Spanish flavor, while Spain starts looking positively British...

This not in fact the only reversal going on. Japan is of course Korea, and France is Germany complete with evil WWII regime, but it gets a bit more subtle after that: Germany seems to be Italy, Russia is the failure of the Arab spring while the Arab power is Putin's Russia, Yugoslavia stayed together and is indeed bigger than OTL while Italy never united, and China while Imperial may be an analogy to the Soviet Union or India or something: I'm unsure. New Denmark is the US, sort of, but with as unlikely a founder as you like. . I've added a couple ideas of my own.

(The white bit in Africa is the unrecognized-by-most "Tuareg free zone." Think OTL's Niger's problems, but with less Islamic fanatics horning in.)

(Phrase "Ruins of Helvetica" copyright Alex Richards (I think), "Nueva Extremadura" taken from Goldstein/Silas-Coldwine and not payed for)

Are you going to make more maps from the Sea Lion Press? I am drawing and colouring in all the covers and post them to my deviantart page. I only want to make sure first if this would break copyright rules.

Huh, Not just Spain, but Denmark and Poland also had a pretty good half-millenium (BTW congrats on the reference you typed for Poland in the color key - had to Google it to get it). And I'm guessing the French strongly benefitted from having most of Belgium.

And now for the questions:
1- What nation is the Florida-Georgia-Mississippi area?
2- Same thing for the blue-grey united Central America
3- How are the *Ukrainians doing?
4- How much of a clusterfuck is subsaharan Africa compared to OTL?
5-
6- What's up with Persia?
7- Siam seems to have modernized rather well, but how did they transition from monarchy to republic?
8- Is TTL Best Nihon doing a better job of feeding its people and having an economy than OTL Best Korea?
9- Is South Nihon a constitutional monarchy like OTL European monarchies?
10- Has there been anything resembling communism/socialism in this world?

1. New Grenada - it's in the color key.
2. A united republic of Central America thingy. The breakup of the Spanish empire went somewhat differently.
3. A bit of a Polish puppet, but it's preferable to the alternative.
4. Slightly better off: they haven't been caught up in cold war proxy conflict as in our world, but generally most European states didn't do much better than in our world in preparing the artificial states they carved out of the continent for independence. Somalia is better off, Chad is pretty screwed up.
5.?
6. Persia is an authoritarian, secular republic with a tendency for the military to meddle in politics.
7. Under colonial rule for a while and the monarchy was too compromised as a puppet of the western devils.
8. Only slightly. But it has more people to work with (about 40 rather than 21 million).
9. Yes, but the monarchy has considerably more influence: not official, legal power, but the Emperor has never officially renounced their divine descent, and if they are cool or uncool about something, a lot of people will listen.
10. No single intellectual tradition as powerful as Marxism in our world, but various leftist, anti-business magnate, "power to the people" movements have arisen over the last couple centuries as the unpleasantness of early capitalism worked its way around the globe. There have been no *socialist powers as formidable as our USSR: but on the other hand leftism hasn't been discredited to the extent as it has been in our world by the horrors of Maoist China and the USSR.

I'm surprised Namibia has relatively few Africans in OTL.

Then again, there are some who like to paint that country as "Rhodesia 2.0" for some reason.

It's lacking the more fertile northern bits of OTL and is proportionally even more desert.

New Denmark and an independent Texas.  Is that a Golden Compass refferance I spy?

I *was* gonna say that--maybe it's also the reshuffled colonialism that's happen with an Armada half-success
