I work with few layers compared to most others I know. The clouds are all one layer, the fireball another, and James and Louis are merged into one layer once I'm done with the colors.

When I was growing up, I was told I was the Poe of my family; I could have either gone to art school and made something of myself, or explore the English language and make something of myself. I chose English.
These days, I can't bring myself to show anything I make, and looking at these step-by-step illustrations of photoshop loveliness makes me so... sooooo... happy I chose English. These look so bleeding difficult to craft.

It's all practice, as much as people are probably tired of hearing that. I actually tried drawing this back in 2012, at the beginning of the year. The reason it's not up here is because I never managed to get beyond the rough sketch; the angle was too complex for me at the time.
