:\ The ability to dispel de-buffs and flash heal not to mention mass group heal and overrated hot+buff, self rez, location rez, de-aggro skill...
I don't at all believe chanters can replace clerics as main heal effectively.
Though there was (and still is) lot of debate about that issue...
Bah, our staff twirling animation more than makes up for it.

Actually I've gone on MM and SR runs with two chanters and no clerics. I have the solo stigma build, so she doesn't need to worry too much about my health, and she has the defensive/mass-heals stigma build, so it works! Plus we're both off the hook crazy.

Funny, I just ran SR yesterday with two chanter heals too. Granted, that wasn't the first two chanter healer SR run but yesterday was a bit special...
We had ssin tank....and no sorc. (ssin, chanter, chanter, ranger, ranger, sm)
Yeah....
Times like that, I wish I chose 'Cleric' when questioned by Munin loooooong ago. >.>
How's Mountain Crash build? :d In pvp especially?

DEAR GOD. You need at least a glad for that place, and a sorc for all the CCs! *facepalm* You are crazy ...
Aha, I haven't been able to try the build in PVP yet, and I'm only level 45 with Improved Stamina I so far, so I can't tell you yet.

Well, we run fine with ssin tank if we had a sorc and a cleric. Yesterday was a special case. You can guess that I had more exp before I went in there....
We still managed to get all 25 hats though (minus one hat that's only pull-able by sorc)
Ha! 46 here! I'm ahead of you. *dances* But Invincibility path, I'm going so..yeah...pvp isn't that big game for me. -.-

Yeah, that stigma's a pain in the ass and way too expensive. One of my legionmate bought it for me one day and guess what? Few days after that the Monkey boss from SR dropped it too.... e_e
Now I have my eyes set on Recovery Spell...
Hopefully 1.9 patch isn't too far away and our stigma price problem will be over...

That stigma cost 3.5-4million Kinah on our severs. I'm waiting till I hit 50, have the OTHER stigma build + advanced stigmas, and THEN I'll worry about getting it.

It's usually not the tank I have a problem with, actually, but the clerics. I can't tell you how many shitty runs either I or a guildie has had because the cleric would only buff certain people, and only heal certain people, or was too busy trying to land a hit themselves etc. etc.
I love constantly having to switch mantras, rebuff, run in and attack, fall back and backup heal, so I love the chanter class.

Then you hear your character scream in a horrid voice, "WHAT HAVE CHU DONE D: " -__- If I knew they wouldn't use the voice you chose I would of just randomly picked LOL I love hearing meh cast spells tho o.o;

Oh, ah, Steve had this happen with his chanter, except to a worse version; the cleric spontaneously decided to drop from group over some shit-talking almost an hour earlier, right as the tank was getting low on health. Naturally, Steve's chanter didn't have much hope in regards to getting the tank back up health in time.

Oh my lord ...
Why is he still even playing the game? It sounds like you have some damn-awful pigeons on your server. Usually when we go anywhere for dungeon runs a majority of the group - if not all 6 of us - are guildmates, usually Jaris, Bix, Thespia, and Kiljax, sometimes Neimor, who all have Skype, so our teamwork is exceptionally organized and usually gets us out of the stickier situations no problem. We did have some confusion when the one NOT from the legion - an assassin who couldn't play his class right, as usual - dropped dead and our cleric paused healing to rez him. She should have left that to me, admittedly, because at that moment Bix got hit hard and the whole group got wiped.

rswhisper In reply to quartervirus-archive [2009-10-28 12:57:53 +0000 UTC]
I believe the reason Steve still plays is called "addiction"
Personally, I only ever grouped once, and it was annoying as hell - I actually spoke my mind in a very strong but subtle way right before I dropped from the group after the run. Steve, who was still in the group, said they didn't know what to make of it... save for the one idiot cleric (who was the main one I had an issue with) who just started running his mouth - and subsequently got verbally slammed by Steve and the shaman that had gone with us (who had the same issues with him as well, it seems)

quartervirus-archive In reply to rswhisper [2009-10-29 04:23:36 +0000 UTC]
Isn't "shaman" a WoW class? Unless it was a Mau passer-by that heard you all and decided the cleric was such a douche he had to speak his mind, too ... wait, do Ellies even -have- Mau? Or is that an Asmodian thing?
Esra and Kiljax have both had problems on their alts trying to do the Black Claw Tribe quests, which is the first group area you run into in the level 10-20 area. When we ran through with Kiljax, Jaris, Thespia, Bix, and Iniya it was smooth and butter. On their alts (Gheist, a templar, and Taynell, a spiritmaster) it eventually got so bad Gheist gave up trying to find a decent group and had Thespia and Jaris group up, nerf his XP, but at least get the damn quests done. I think Esra just tried and tried again, but most of the time got shit groups, got wiped, or got groups that disbanded after their quests were done, nevermind anyone else's.

Sorry, my bad, spiritcaster...
Yea, was the same problem I had with my sorc as Esra's. I never even did get all of my Krall quests done, I get too sick of the attempt. Especially with just two of us - even when I didn't mind bringing Steve's character, who nerfed exp, no group would take both of us; either he was too high, or I was too low, to take both of us willingly

quartervirus-archive In reply to rswhisper [2009-10-29 14:00:37 +0000 UTC]
At Jaris and Thespia's level we didn't drag aggro anymore, and Gheist is a templar, so Jaris was more than enough heal power. Although ... he was level 30 already. That's more than 10 levels what you need.

rswhisper In reply to quartervirus-archive [2009-10-29 17:09:24 +0000 UTC]
Ah, well, with Steve's higher leveled character, he can keep control of aggro pretty well even though his class isn't designed for it, so long as I don't spam my sorc's heavier DPS abilities... if I do, he drops it to me, and he's a good 5 levels over me :3
Or, well, was the case when we were last playing together, anyways. He switched to his chanter and loves her far better, and I quit...

Bix is a gladiator and she's usually our tank. In the cases where we need one other player from outside our Legion they're always so worried about have a gladiator tanking, and usually they die because they're shite at their classes, anyway. Once we had to use a healer from outside ... she was good, but accidentally was talking in group while spamming her hotkeys and died, and I had to fall to backup heals while Kiljax/Thes picked her up with a rez stone. Apparently I'm good at that.

rswhisper In reply to quartervirus-archive [2009-10-30 03:08:55 +0000 UTC]
Poor Steve ended up tanking a lot with his gladiator as well, and had the same issue of the others fucking up their roles and blanking it on him tanking. "Well, what do you expect, gladiators aren't tanks, I have ONE ability to hold aggro..."
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
quartervirus-archive In reply to rswhisper [2009-10-30 04:30:57 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it's difficult with Bix. Good thing we use Skype calls for most of our dungeon runs, in fact most of our gameplay at all. If we drag too many Bix holds as many as she can, but sometimes Kiljax, our assassin, holds one off as we kill off the first as quickly as we can, because he has such a high evasion and so many dodge skills he can usually avoid getting hit until Bix has a chance to get the mob back.

I play a chanter myself, and in the last party runs I've done through the black claw outpost/village, half the time I heal BETTER than the cleric who I usually have to res at least once. How in hell does that work??

When I played Jaris as a cleric in open Beta I singhandedly got our group of 1 assasin, 1 mage, and a glad tanking (the assassin and mage a few levels below us) without dying once. Chanter is a little more difficult, but I agree there are a lot of people out there who don't know how to play a cleric. I think they play that class just because they know they'll get invited to a lot of groups.

i had a nightmare of a BCO run with my cleric the other night. the assassin kept going in ahead of the tank, tank couldn't get aggro back, or the chanter kept expecting me to simultaneously heal the tank and myself while not bothering to take aggro off me if i got mobbed and my cast times knocked back. then i got the blame when the tank charged an elite that 2-shot killed him b4 my first heal cast finished. like i can control cast times and cooldowns. wtf?!?!
anyways, ranting aside, i bloody love your aion comics ^_^

Oh god, sounds like the one my boyfriend ran through with his alt. TWO templars and they still couldn't get past the first corner without dying. He left, considering we went through the entire area with a chanter healing and a glad tanking, an assassin and a sorc only and a few levels lower, even, and -still- survived.

hmm, i think i'm doing ok considering it's only been 4 days since i started seriously putting myself out in the LFG channel as a main group healer (never played a healer class b4). from the groups i've done runs with 2 templars and a gladiator have kept me on their friends list for future runs.
