Description
The TARDIS is left alone once again...I almost had "her" doing algebraic quantum sudoku, but I figured for something as smart as a TARDIS there's only so many centuries you can do them without it getting rather repetetive. xD
Another one! : lady-of-many-hats.deviantart.cā¦
-----Edit 2013----
Oh my god this is getting picked up again from somewhere isn't it.
Hello friends! Thanks so much for all the favorites and comments on this and the other TARDIS comic! I have no idea where you guys are all coming from but it makes me happy. <3
Just a note though: I don't do Doctor Who fanart generally (you may notice this comic is from 2008, woops) so if you watch me hoping for more of the same I'm probably gonna disappoint, I'm sorry.
This isn't to say I don't still love the boots offa the show, I just don't draw a lot of fanart in general! Hi fives for the whovians.

Hahah, nice! I always wondered if the Tardis got lonely, or if it was amused by the Doctor's escapades.

I didn't realise she was listening to music... I thought she was making that taking off noise to annoy the Doctor and _____ (insert companion here) or freak them out.

It's hard to make an onomatopoeia for that.. uh.. *makes Eleven's weird inhaling noise*, but I probably would have gone with the traditional "vworp vworp" had I wanted to illustrate it, I think? Or made up something weird like HRZZZZEAH HRZZZZEAH
lololol what is that noise I don't even

OliveTheBreloom In reply to QuazarShark [2011-03-21 13:01:56 +0000 UTC]
It is a unique noise, so yeah, an onomatopoeia would be hard to make for it, I don't think "Vworp Vworp" sounds like it at all.... I always thought of it more as "Hureeeeeeer! Hureeeeeeeeeer!", and that is pretty close to yours.
I heard the noise was made back in the 60's by scraping car keys over piano strings and playing it backwards... ...They just plain invented a noise.
I totally cracked up when I heard Matt Smith making that strange noise, It is a wonder he could do so with a straight face.

QuazarShark In reply to Doodlebotbop [2008-07-04 21:05:24 +0000 UTC]
Yep! It's a time and space machine stuck in the external shape of a 1960's british Police Public Call Box, it's about the size of a small city inside, with lots of rooms (mostly we only get to see the console room though).
TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. ^_^
It's also alive, and it wasn't built but grown. The Doctor calls his a "she".

One thing of your statement is wrong...The Tardis interior in not the size of a small city.....its a hell of a lot bigger than that...last i heard in the old series...the interior was bigger than Gallifrey...(i doubt that but who knows...he is always adding and destroying rooms at will)
š: 0 ā©: 1
QuazarShark In reply to Scattergunsniper [2012-06-08 22:12:51 +0000 UTC]
Really? I've never heard that! I mean theoretically it's like.. I dunno.. a free-form dimension of its own, so I guess it's like Minecraft or something and it's just as big as whatever you add to it. I'm not sure where I got "the size of a small city" from, but thanks for the correction!

Wow, that's pretty darn cool! How is TARDIS powered?
Does she ever like communicate with the rest of the people? I know Dr. Who isn't human, so what is he?

QuazarShark In reply to Doodlebotbop [2008-07-05 11:00:39 +0000 UTC]
His name isn't Dr. Who, that's the name of the program.. He's just called "The Doctor", and if asked what he's a doctor of he'll say "Everything.".
The TARDIS used to be powered by the Eye of Harmony, which was a captive black hole on the Doctor's planet of origin (Gallifrey) that apparently powered TARDISes everywhere. At the start of the new series we found out that Gallifrey had been destroyed (D: !) and that the Doctor was the last of his kind. Apparently the TARDIS now draws its energy from the universe, which has the very significant drawback that if it pops into a parallel universe it just goes DED.
The Doctor's TARDIS never really acts like more than a machine, and I don't think it has any kind of sentience. I like to think of it as a sort of work dog, like a collie. Usually to busy rounding up spacetime to bother with being cuddly. If it does have some kind of intelligence, it's not the sort of intelligence that humanoids can identify with. The Doctor talks to it though, and randomly pats bits.
The Doctor is a Time Lord, who look like humans externally but have two hearts and a whole bunch of abilities that humans don't have, such as being annoyingly clever, able to absorb radiation, do telepathic stuff, and they are able to see into four dimensions and see possible paths in time that have been. This last ability could just be the Doctor, but I doubt it. They can also regenerate 12 times in their lifetime, which means they replace every cell in their body (and means the BBC can hire a new actor), which they can do by choice if critically wounded.

That's four! He's most people's favorite after ten, it seems.
Who knows? Each Doctor has had different time spans. Eight was the shortest (something like 90 minutes, because he only appeared in the film, lol), nine was the second shortest, with a mere 15 episodes, but four for example was the Doctor for something crazy like 6 years.

If the Doctor's the last of his kind, he can't have kids huh?
š: 0 ā©: 1
QuazarShark In reply to Doodlebotbop [2008-07-08 10:53:51 +0000 UTC]
He did have kids once! At least, we know he had a granddaughter (she was the first "companion" waaay back in 1963). We also know he had a brother, and may have been married once. All gone now. ;_;
This "last of his kind" thing is only the new series, there used to be time lords all over the place disapproving of him left right and centre. And old friends of his from his school days that randomly turned up.
