Description I needed a break so I did something for me.

Pippi Longstocking, my childhood idol, in colored pencils. She totally needs a decent movie or cartoon series.

Cute! She did have a cartoon series in the late 90's, with a theme song "What Shall I Do Today?" But it didn't last that long. A shame.

I saw a clip from a Swedish Pippi movie...a couple of street thugs harassed her, and then she kicked one so hard that he was sent flying up a tree. I thought "woah, Pippi could out-Neo....Neo"

You mean the cartoon by Nelvana, right? I rented the movie of that once and ... well, I felt they didn't get Pippi quite right. Oh, well, we'll always have the books!

Well, even if the animated version was panned, it still warranted an audiobook [ www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6O8uZ… ] and other merchandise in Pippi's native land, Sweden. Sweden's always proud to display Pippi as a native, since she's probably one of the few characters with enough popularity world-wide.

yes, the Nelvana one. But I saw a clip from a much older movie on Youtube....problem is I don't know any Swedish (except a couple of words....such as Smorgasbord....which literally means "sandwich table"), so I couldn't fully appreciate it...but still, being able to "out-Neo Neo" against a couple of bullies was beyond awesome.

Ghibli wanted to do a Pippi series, but in the end didn't get the rights. They made Panda! Go Panda! /Panda Kopanda instead, and kept much of the design work.

I've always loved Pippi. The swedishness of the books always enamoured me. I wanted to live in Sweden. Or the south seas.

I heard about the Ghibli studio. I wisht they'd gotten the rights, cuz I think they could've done a much better job than what Nelvana did.

I didn't even know Pippi was a Swedish character until years after I read the books. The stories were just universal enough for me not to notice what country they were in.

Didn't she start out in a movie? I remember it being pretty good.

But I think a new movie for her would be cool.

Nope, the books by Astrid Lindgren came first. Anything else is based on them.

I watched the really old school dubbed swedish version when I was four or five, and remember it well.

And the American live action, which I can't even vaguely remember anymore. : (

I always loved Pippi Longstocking! My favorite book was the one where she took her neighbors with her on a trip to the island.... I can't for the life of me remember what the book was called, or the name of the neighbors :[

All that aside, I think you did a lovely job. I especially like her expression
