Description
Traditional drawing of a hummingbird (Green-crowned brilliant - Heliodoxa jacula). It was fun to draw all these iridescent feathers (too bad my scanner messed up the colours and the contrast a bit...)! It could be a bit better, but I gave up drawing all these feathers properly after a while.

Paper DIN A4 190g/mΒ²; Faber-Castell Polychromos artists' colour pencils, Copic Ciao marker, Copic Multiliner 0.05 & SP 0.03, Faber-Castell pencil HB, uni-ball Signo pigment ink um-153 white; time: 14 hours

For the background I used a black Copic for the "marker base layer" and then I added colored pencil (black and a few shades of green). But I didn't draw "lines". I just made "colored pencil powder" with a sharpener and then applied the powder (with my fingers or tissues). This is very helpful for big plain areas. Then everything looks smooth and you don't see lines or other textures.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. You achieved a very soft and suitable background. I'll try to experiment applying the pigment like that.
