Description
Traditional drawing of R2D2 and C3PO. Can somebody explain to me why I decided to draw C3PO? Drawing this golden robot was a nightmare, but I'm happy with the result and the shiny look. So in the end it was a nice challenge!^^I'll probably draw something from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, when I know more about the characters or watched the movie.
Reference was a Star Wars promo (?) picture.
Paper DIN A4 190g/mΒ²; Faber-Castell Polychromos artists' colour pencils, Copic Ciao and Sketch marker, Copic Multiliner 0.05 & SP 0.03, uni-ball Signo pigment ink um-153 white; time: ~20 hours
Please don't upload my pictures somewhere else without my permission. Don't infringe copyright!

That was a hell of a job. How long did it take for you to make this? You can be proud on the results. Just excellent. Daily Deviation well deserved

Thank you very much! This drawing took me ~20 hours (I always list the time, tools and everything else in the description, by the way
).

My guess [as to why you decided to draw C3PO] would be that you thought putting burning matches under your fingernails was too easy and you REALLY wanted to suffer.
Worked out pretty good, though. Β
AKA - Pretty excellent, kid.
Earned the DD, to be sure.

Your welcome.
Do you think to draw Wicket the Ewok and Avengers sometimes?

I don't like Ewoks, but I think I'm going to draw more Avengers/Marvel stuff until the release of Captain America Civil War.

ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT YOUR ART
This is a CARBON COPY of this Β image fromΒ Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels, an official book from 2005.
You listed the image as a reference, but this is a tracing, clear as day

You know that there is a method called grid method? Here is a step by step tutorial with my technique: Traditional (mixed media) tutorial
It's almost impossible to draw traditional realism without a reference and it's pretty rare that people create something new with one or more references in traditional realism (or hyperealism). I noticed that when I was looking for pictures to suggest (DD). I only found redraws of one picture.
I just try to redraw a reference as accurate as possible with these methods (grid method, measuring, draw from different angles) to improve my technique (in this case: metall) and never claimed something else.

I agree its an exact copy. What a shame

Of course it's an exact copy. It's my goal to improve my technique in realism. I never claimed something else? Drawing traditional realism without a reference is almost impossible. But I use the grid method and don't trace. Here's my technique: Traditional (mixed media) tutorial
It's a shame that people tend to write hateful comments without doing some research. That's why I always hesitate to upload my drawings in the internet, because I just upload these drawings for fun and to give people drawings advices to improve their technique.

I, in all honesty, disagree with you copying the original image. Your technique I must say would be helpful when trying to recreate things (such as R2D2 & C3PO), since that is how people would learn to do these types of things. I have in the past as well drawn the reference image, but it was for class and it was to tech us, no copyright in any way.Β

I just draw like that (use a reference and try to redraw it as exact as possible), because I like it. It's fun.
I'm not artist. I never learned it. I'm just a scientist, who like to draw. I don't even say this is art. Sometimes I feel more like a photocopier.
And for copyright: That's why I always credit the original image and put it into the fan art subfolder. I don't want to offend anyone. I just want to share stuff I draw (like many other people) and I draw what I like.
