"Above Hill Inlet" So this is where I live, (yep you can hate me, it's O.K. LOL ) I finally decided it was time to see this beautiful place from the air so I booked a scenic flight over the Whitsundays and it was awesome. This is pretty much our iconic beach, it's the most famous and appears in all the travel brochures. The sand is almost pure white and very blinding in the tropical sun so FYI take a really good pair of polarized sunglasses or you'll damage your precious eyeballs, also curiously being pure silica it does not get hot and burn you feet like normal sand and my favorite part is that it squeaks when you walk on it so I always shuffle my feet as I walk along the beach and make stupid tunes... yep I'm an odd one LOL! Another interesting fact that I learned off the pilot of our plane is that apparently NASA used the sand off this beach to make the lenses in the Hubble space telescope and they were the only ones allowed to take the sand in over 100 years as it's so highly protected.
