Description For the upcoming release of the Final Fantasy RPG 3rd Edition. Illustration for a playable race.

No one can tell for certain how long ago the Dwarven race descended into the underground, but generations of toiling below the earth in the red, sickly glow of magma, skirmishing against tunneling predators and facing the daily hazards of gas pockets, tremors and cave-ins have produced a people almost perfectly equipped to deal with the challenges of their adopted home. A Dwarf’s body isn’t as much small as it is compact, a stout, hairy package of muscle whose size belies an unusual strength and toughness; their eyes are golden and luminous and their skins dark as coal, blending easily with the gloom of a cave or tunnel.

It's been a while since I was involved with the FFRPG. It was a great project, I just didn't have enough time to spread around.

It looks like a black mage clad in armor. Poor thing! It can't move its arms to fireball anyone!!!!

I would hate to wear so much armor. Screw saving me. If I can't move, its not worth it!!!!

Ah, but he's not a black mage, the original dwarves from the Final Fantasy franchise all had black faces with glowing yellow eyes. Maybe they took the design and incorporated it into IX to give that game more of the classic feel.

If you haven't noticed by now, I kinda have a weird mind that often thinks faster than my typing.

Perhaps, but I still feel sorry for the thing if its a black mage in disguise as a dwarf to pass through the tunnels to safety in some epic story adventure that would be cool as another game. And maybe it could come across a mage taken as a hostage by an evil dwarven overlord under secrecy to destroy the realm!(again) But the mage disguised as a dwarf is found out by the hostage and they make a deal to escape from the cave, but being too stupid and brave, the disguised decides he will attempt to save the realm. The hostage, after much arguing and giving up, gives in.

But what happens when the dwarven overlord takes a human captive?

I fully support old-school FF dwarves, but... It should still have a beard XD other than that nit-pick, this is awesome!

I like, you only get to see their faces in FF9 after all. ;D

actually 9 is non-canonical when it comes to the dwarves from what I understand.

I'd call it an addendum, proof of exceptions...

'Non-canonical' implies there's a solid continuity.

This is just fantastic in every way. I'm a big fan of old FF games, and a bigger fan of dwarves, and this is just perfect. The only thing I could complain about is the lack of a beard, but somehow in this FF-ish style it doesn't seem to matter much. I would like to see an alt with a beard but that's just me. I'm just itching to see if it stays cute.

If only they had a new FF game with such character designs....

I also have another dwarf design [link] it includes the beard

I think you mean Jawas, though watching a bunch of high strung coffee beans running around chasing robots would be insanely funny.

Very cool! I like the costume. It fits the character very well. Reminds me of black mages in FF 9, though. Mostly of Vivi..

Very, wich I think was the point in the design of the Dwarves for FF (as opposed to the ugly Jay-Leno chinned green skinned scottish accent speaking monsters in FF9)

Jack-of-Spades [2005-09-26 04:14:33 +0000 UTC]

Looks more like Vivi. I remember dwarves being all green in FF9. I guess they were differant in an older game.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

QuestingRaven In reply to Jack-of-Spades [2005-09-27 12:00:27 +0000 UTC]

Older games have versions of dwarves that show the same features. I added the physical description from the FFRPG to clarify. Also if you look here ---> [link] the last two entries look suprisingly like Vivi.

Thanks for the fav
