Description
I've been shaking my head at the war that has been tearing the Star Wars fanbase apart between the "true" and "false" fans for a while now and thought I'd finally throw my two cents in my own special way. I don't have any illusions that this will reconcile the fanbase, but you can't blame a guy for trying. This picture was inspired by a very pertinent comment I recently saw on Youtube that says those very lines. I can't remember the poster's username or which video I saw it on (I think it was a Lucas King video, the guy makes great SW orchestral covers), but I think the message speaks to all fans out there regardless of whether they like the Disney continuity or not.
Fans of a fictional universe have the right to decide for themselves what they consider part of their fandom's canon and what they don't*. That is especially true in the case of a universe as rich and vast as that of Star Wars. The moment it becomes a problem is when they try to force their opinion down the throats of others and pass it as the universal truth that all must adopt sooner or later.
You have every right to dislike Disney's Star Wars. You also have every right to like it. Hell, you even have every right to disagree with the message I'm trying to get across here. I don't care. Just let those whose opinions differ from yours in peace and carry on. The important thing is that you enjoy Star Wars in whatever way you want.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this picture and read my take on this heated debate, and may the Force be with you.
* My personal example: I used to really hate Dave Filoni's The Clone Wars animated show back when it started. It got off to a bit of a wonky start with the 2008 "pilot" feature film and the first season, but I was pleased to see that the show only gained in maturity and overall quality as the seasons went on, and it grew to become one of my favourite animated shows of all time. There is, however, one episode that I stubbornly refuse to consider part of my Star Wars canon: the season 4 episode Shadow Warrior, which features General Grievous, my favourite villain from the prequel era, being defeated, wounded and captured by kriffing Gungans!

Words of wisdom indeed. Canon is what YOU make of it, as Evannova95 of YouTube said.
Also, on the topic of Grievous being defeated by Gungans, donβt forget that the Gungans have weapons highly effective against droids and Grevious is mostly droid! Ergo, heβd be vulnerable to them.

Thank you.
Yeah, whatever. That episode still didn't happen, as far as I'm concerned. >_<
