Description
The saving grace of Season 2, I kind of fell in love with the Avatarverse all over again when Wan's story introduced all the new lore and origins of their world. When he first met Raava and Vaatu though I totally got an old married couple vibe, hahaha!Related content

I LOVED Wan. he's my favorite element in the entire Korra series. it broke my heart when korra's connection was severed with him and the other past avatars.

Love it, shame we probably won't get much more Wan if any. I really liked the different art style used in these episodes, especially the fire and air. I think you'veΒ really captured his personality here, he was a fun character. Awesome job

this looks awesome! avatar wan's story was very well done in the "not so good" season 2 of The legend of Korra. Β however his whole backstory doesn't fit in the avatar universe, i mean what about the original benders from the original series: "Avatar:the last airbender"?? Β the dragons for the firebenders, the bisons for the airbenders, the badgermoles for the earthbenders and the moon for the waterbenders. Β it was explained in the first series that the people learned bending from these creatures (and the moon) but Wan's story tells that the lionturtles were the ones that gave bending to the humans. its a major contradiction, can someone explain??? any ideas??

I believe it's more the case of they learned how to bend the elements, the Lionturtles gave them to them but they couldn't use them that well. Wan learned to use the fire "like an extension of his body" when he was with the spirits copying the Dragons' movements. I guess Raava taught himΒ to better useΒ the others though. Could also be the true origin of element bending was lost in legend and the original explanation was a myth. I guess it's a retcon though, but I think either of these explain it, for me at least.

You are right that the Lion Turtles never gave people bending, they just gave them access to a certain element. But the dragons, bison, moles and moon spirit are still the original benders.
After the age of the Avatar began, people were scattered but eventually united by the certain element which they were given and began to use the elements as their symbol of union after they were taught to bend by animals.
So it was never retconed, just expanded upon.

i guess the "lost in legend" theory fits better since avatar wan's story happened thousands of years ago and many generations passed since then
