KAMEHAMEHAAAAAA--Another quick DBZ paint since Chala-head-chala came on my iTunes playlist and I needed something to take a break from my homework/Manga.Son-Gohan in SSJ2 form. Loved him, until he grew up, turned weak and retarded to the point where he was just another canon fodder Z-fighter.
Really upset when Toriyama decided to screw him over in favor of Goku especially with all that "hidden power" build up he had us on. Gohan could've provided so much in character development and the theme of passing things on to the next generation. BLARG

To true. Toriyama really took the backseat with how GT was written. I know he didn't have alot to do with it and that he kinda just let them use the license for his characters and all but even so, I'd be right at the helm making sure everyone was represented properly. I mean they could have at least saved Gohan by allowing him to actually participate in a battle. Instead he was just possessed by Baby for a few episodes (if that) and then as you put it 'cannon fodder'.
I like the realistic look for Gohan here, alot of people wouldn't have dared it especially from such an angle but you did very well. I do think he could use a little more youthfulness to his face since he was only 11 in this moment but whatever, its a tiny detail.

I totally agree, I think Toriyama was done with DB by the end of Cell, he had originally wanted the series to end there, and I think it shows. I love what came after Cell mainly because it delved so much further into Vejiita, but other than that, can't say the Buu saga was any good. I mean come on, Buu? He's supposed to be worse than Cell? I think TA-san was tired of the series and stopped caring whether the writing was caliber or not, and his desire to get back to comedy/fantasy in his work created a lot of misplaced absurdity with this final chapter if the manga. One of the worst parts bout this is he TotALLy tossed Gohan out the window. I hate teen Gohan, what a doofy idiot. He never again achieved the strength from the Cell fight, and for a scholar, he's pretty damn stupid. Gokuu's naivete, without his "rustic" animalistic charm. Gohan's just a dork and it's a damn shame, because at the end of Cell the torch had clearly been passed, and then what... happened??
Anyway, I love your painting!! You actually get to see what Gohan had become in that moment, which went away and we never got to see again in the series.

Yeah it did kinda suck. The gotenks thing was just there to be there,Super saiyan 3 sounds redundant,and he didn't end it with gohan after he got the whole "UNTAPPED POTENTIAL RELEASED" thing.
I know he kinda already did the whole *surpass your elders* thing with dragon ball but still kinda of a wasted chance.Could have been a nice follow up to the passing of the parents will thing...

just posting to clear up that Gohan did become stronger than when he defeated Cell. In the Buu saga he became 'Mystic Gohan'.
IDK if you were speaking relatively or actually.... sorry if you were speaking relatively >_< bc no, he never reached the strength of that beyond everyone else again.
I agree, I hate how Gohan developed after the Cell Saga, and thought that 'Mystic Gohan' was kinda wack. Not even ssj?....cmon A.T.
Ssj is so much more dramatic and appealing than the 'Mystic' crap.
Other than that, I love Goku all the way threw the end of the series (End of GT) bc he was so much more hungry and free spirited than all other characters, including Gohan. Gohan only mustered an appetite for strength when others pushed him, where as Goku LOVED fighting (Pure Saiyajin, but still hungrier than Vegeta) ALWAYS, even after death and peaceful times ^_^

I agree 100% on Gohan getting the shaft in the Boo arc. >_< Would have been a much more interesting story, but if the rumors I heard were true, the fans were PISSED when Son Gohan appeared to get the torch of the Dragonball franchise.
