KAMEHAMEHAAAAAA--Another quick DBZ paint since Chala-head-chala came on my iTunes playlist and I needed something to take a break from my homework/Manga.Son-Gohan in SSJ2 form. Loved him, until he grew up, turned weak and retarded to the point where he was just another canon fodder Z-fighter.
Really upset when Toriyama decided to screw him over in favor of Goku especially with all that "hidden power" build up he had us on. Gohan could've provided so much in character development and the theme of passing things on to the next generation. BLARG

I think I'm inclined to agree, and in fact I have a project in the works called Dragonball Alpha which will be a sort of contemporization and retelling of the dragonball story along the lines of how "Ultimate Spider-Man" retells Amazing spider-man. If you're familiar with that sort of thing. But it'll start on the planet vegeta and actually follow the saiyans story before arriving at earth. If it does well we'll go in to retelling the events of DBZ itself, and Gohan maintaining his badassery with all that Hidden power build up is on my list of things to put in to the story. Lol.
Great pic by the way, some excellent paints and some great lighting on and around the energy.

I totally agree with your thoughts on Gohan. So much so that I search the internet (even still today) looking for Gohan fanfics which provide a better storyline as compared to the screwy real one

Awesome and awe-inspiring, this picture totally blew me away. It's a great picture based from a great show. Even though I've never watched a full episode of DragonBall Z, I really like so that must mean it is good. I think Goku is the most beastiest fighter throughout the history of that show, and I can't wait to see the movie that's coming out. I hope it's as good as the priginal one and it stays true to the story. Anyways, awesome picture, keep it up!

Woo, best part of that series, seriously. You've captured it perfectly - the character really shines in your art style.
Toriyama kind of does that to all of his characters after awhile - it's like he loses interest in them once he's got their plot all wrapped up. I mean look at Piccolo ... he used to be able to go toe-to-toe with Goku but now all he does is glare at people in the background and get blown up every few episodes. Definitely should've stopped after Cell - just let everyone be cool for one last episode and then let the series pass on with dignity. Ah well.

lol wat i hated most about DBZ was that fact that Goku got glorified, whilst Vegeta got screwed. Goku always saved the day true, but usually with Vegeta taking one MONDO Ass-wippin to give him the chance....(Kid-Buu any1?) Vegeta left the Dark Side and still got sent to hell....he shoulda got to fight with Goku in Otherworld for ALL enternity

First of all, this is fantastic! Second of all I totally agree with you. Gohan was a kid, but he was the man in the Cell saga. I was a little disappointed that Akira Toriyama left Gohan hanging in the Buu saga. Even if he stayed just an ssj2, Goku would still be way more powerful as an ssj3. There was Mystic Gohan and as I understand it at that level he was either equivalent to an ssj3 or more powerful, but that didn't last long. Not long at all.

More DBZ! I love how realistic you draw them. I totally agree on the Gohan issue. So much build up during the Android saga and then he is one of the first to get screwed when Buu arrives.

Everything you said in your comments is completely true, and I was upset when everything turned back to Goku. In all honesty, the show should have ended after the Cell Saga--Goku dying and Gohan taking his place and all.
As it stands, Gohan is my favorite character. (well, so is Trunks, but Gohan especially.) I have a billboard covered with little Gohan cards, stickers, and prints.
Though Gohan post-Cell doesn't exist to me. >.<
