KAMEHAMEHAAAAAA--Another quick DBZ paint since Chala-head-chala came on my iTunes playlist and I needed something to take a break from my homework/Manga.Son-Gohan in SSJ2 form. Loved him, until he grew up, turned weak and retarded to the point where he was just another canon fodder Z-fighter.
Really upset when Toriyama decided to screw him over in favor of Goku especially with all that "hidden power" build up he had us on. Gohan could've provided so much in character development and the theme of passing things on to the next generation. BLARG

Really impressive piece. Great job with the light intensity. I love the DBZ series, but I was completely disgusted when I saw the trailer for the new movie, it's so wrong.

thats epic dude.....almost as epic as the chala head chala song. they should've kept that for the english dub and not that rock the dragon and all the subsequent "rock'n'role" themes that came after it......fuck we english ruin everything good from japan with all this sickening localizing bullshit coz a small portion of the population can't handle a difference in culture. "oh no! they sing different!! its going to turn my children into rapests and murderers!!! OH NO!!!! THERES A CHARACTER CALLED MR. SATAN!!!!!! THIS SHOW IS ENFORCING ANTI-CHRISTIAN BELIEFS ON MY HEAVILY INFLUENCED OFFSPRING!!!!!!" I mean COME ON! If they don't like their children watching they should get off their arses, do some parenting and make sure they aren't watching the show.......don't ruin it for everyone else for fucks sake......

woohoo! someone agrees with my crazy tangaent!! Lets hope though aye, I'm not saying we should become a carbon copy of japan, I mean they do have some questionable things (ie. tentacle porn) but we really need to loosen up as a society, coz the way that things have been censored in the past its like why bother watching the show when its been butchered and altered in a way that its almost unwatchable. I remember watching DBZ after school at 4.30 everyday after school on channel 3 and seriously......the fights were edited so badly that the fights consisted of someone charging at another guy and then the other guy was on the ground and you'd be like........WTF JUST HAPPENED!?!?!?!?!?!?! I live in New Zealand so the editing standards may be different where you're from (they may be even worse where you're from)......but that is no way to watch DBZ WHICH IS A VIOLENT SHOW! I mean noone really watches it for the plot, I mean lets face it, the plot is pretty shite hahaha.
But yeah cencorship has calmed down I've noticed this too and they have brought out the show uncencored on DVD now (even tough its been cropped so it could be in wanky wide screen even though they were sent a partition not to have this done)

It wasn't Toriyama's fault exclusively, his editors pushed him to not only draw out the story longer, but bring Goku back from the dead because the readers were demanding it.

Well, nothing is ever "exclusively" someone's fault is it? 8D I wouldn't have minded Goku coming back, but just making him a formidable support fighter like Vegeta would've sufficed ;[

Well, I never really watched/read a lot of DBZ, but from some of my friends who are bigger Toriyama fans, they've blamed a lot on the editors. :o I also saw a poll for Shounen Jump that showed relative reader-ship, and it's been down since 1985 (when DBZ ended), so I could see why they wanted to drag it out.
:[ I liked Gohan too. Kinda sucks he never had a larger role as he grew older, and then Goten-the-Goku-clone came along.

I like to think Toriyama and his editors as more of a "team" (thought in reality, that's obviously not the case D: ) the fact that he caved to them and the terrible judgment of mass fans is enough to make my blood boil a little.
Even Goten was downplayed though, Gotenks sort of sucked. ;/

I have allways thought that the whole story should have ended with the defeat of Cell. Everything past it was kind of stupid for me. SSJ 3 looked gross and I found Mr.Satan (Hercule) and the reduction of power of Gohan so incredibly bothering that it killed the whole story for me. But if I look at the fight with Cell as the ending of the story than it is great. 
And the picture is stunning. I love realisting interpretations of DB.

The 9th movie (Bojack Unbound) that happens right after the Cell games takes DBZ in a really good direction setting up Gohan as the protagonist, I really wish that was where they took the series. Not, HEY BRING GOKU BACK, MAKE EVERYONE ELSE SHITTY CANON FODDER, YEAYEAYEA!
I thought SSJ3 was a neat design ;/

Well Ive seen Bojack Unbound just in Italian so i didnt get the whole story, but it really had a good way to go. We can only wish now. (or write/draw a fanfic, but that isn`t the same)
About SSJ3.. well everyone has a different taste. I missed a concept behaind it. SSJ 1 was all about the rage. To get SSJ 2 you had to master SSJ 1 and SSJ 3? .. It came and so. I dunno, it had a lack of something and the image didn`t make up for it. And I haven`t seen GT, but I saw a few pictures and yes .. SSJ4 sucks ape balls.

I too loved Gohan until he grew up. >_> I didn't even watch the Buu saga after seeing the first few episodes of it. I mean, I know what happens, but I didn't watch it.

Well this is defo favo! Because Gohan is my favo character out of DragonBall Z, even though he started to suck towards the end

That because there were people bitching at him about keeping Goku around. Akira caved in too it. Although he caved in to a lot of stuff as well.
Yeah, Gohan could have easily been Goku's successor in DBZ, passing the torch if you will, and could've carried on the legacy as Earth's protector like his father did. No doubt Gohan could've easily balanced out his training with schooling if his mother wasn't such a fucking nag about it.
Chi Chi was so worried about Gohan becoming a little hoodlum if he didn't get any schooling. The only time he actually displayed something similar to that was in his fight with Cell.
