Description
This was created for the watecolorists AQUACHALLENGE with the theme "Transitions." Keywords given included autumn colors. The word "transitions" has me thinking about time, so an early idea I had was to paint a clock tower in a park with autumn colors. While looking for reference photos, I came a across a few pictures taken from inside clock towers, and that really got my imagination going. I like the idea of looking out and watching the times change, it struck a poetic chord in me.

As for my process, I started by drawing a circle and filling it in with a watercolor sky and trees. Playing around with the colors in that step was a lot of fun. After that was dry, I drew the lines from the reversed clock over top in Tombow Pen. I usually create art in a loose, imperfect style, so the detailed, careful lines were a challenge for me. Finally, I shaded in around the clock face with the Tombow Pen. I choose to leave portions around the edges with choppy shading lines, but I used a wet brush to make some of the ink "melt" and drip on the paper.

I am very happy with the artwork, though I am a bit disappointed in the picture quality. I'm so glad I decided to participate, I gained some valuable experience with this artwork and ended up with a satisfying picture.
