Description ...aaaand you know the rest

***EDIT! Check out a slightly improved version of this piece on my Blog ---> [link]

Seriously, though, in spite of everything else its produced (for good and bad) for once I want "Family Guy" to win an award for this scene ONLY - with full credit due to Greg Colton and Darlie Brewster for making this 2-minute beauty of a parody possible.

I don't care what Seth Mac-whatever says about animation being "cost-worthy". He's almost the richest guy in America, fer goodness sake....!
There is still hope for 2D animation if people are willing enough and patient enough to do it properly by putting quality in front of quantity.

Stuff pop references. Stuff sadistic humour. Heck, stuff Angry Nerd Boy reviewers who rant about this show constantly. I want to watch a PROPER cartoon, dammit, with PROPER animation!!! >__<

And before anyone begins, yes Louis DOES look hotter here, yes Stewie DOES look adorable too, yes Brian DOES look similar to "Bolt" (in some ways) and yes we would love to see Meg drawn in Disney form more often (but not as Ursula).

There. Said it. Done. Enjoy

Given how the show has changed drastically, and from what I learned from a few crew members, I believe I came to the conclusion to why family guy became that way, to become an anti-sitcom. It actually makes sense when thinking about it.

When I found out about this Disney parody I kinda felt like Seth was toying with all the animation purists complaining that this is the kind of quality work they want to see, so his answer is like "I know what you all want, so here! Now I'm going to get back to making money off of my "Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy" on YouTube!". Shows what little regard he has for a gift as wonderful as cartooning.

As a huge fan of Family Guy, I would say that I love that parody, even though the anti-semetic joke at the end was just unexpected.

Of course, you did an awesome job on the Griffen family from the Disney universe.

Don't get me wrong or anything, but I love every season of it, though season 7 was kinda weak, except for "I Dream of Jesus", though that was hilarious. Surfin' Bird = ftw. XD

But still, awesome picture.

I saw this on YouTube or somewhere. I don't watch Family Guy because I don't like the humor or the animation, but this scene was awesome. They look so much better animated Disney style. A pure shame this type of animation takes a backseat in this day and age, a pure damn shame. Great job on your take of it.

I don't really like Family Guy. But the whole episode should of been animated in this style.

Great job.

WritingWantingWork [2009-10-09 01:25:39 +0000 UTC]

that was a good scene, but i still think it could have ended better. Seriously, i think this would have been a good chance for Seth to poke some fun at himself and have the scene end with some kind of joke about how he doesn't want to pay to make family guy have that high quality animation or something. The Disney-Hates-Jews joke is so played out (plus, Seth was originally going to work there, but was turned off by the fact that Eisner was more interested in money than in entertainment or something along those lines).

I think Family Guy should lay off Disney, because it seriously gets boring and tasteless after a while lol

Seth DID work for Disney at one point.

"Jungle Cubs" was a Disney Television Animation spinoff of "The Jungle Book" in which he wrote a few episodes.

This scene will most defiently save Family guy I think, I'm not much of a fan, but I loved that bit...But was Walt Disney supposed to be a jew hater or something? Just curious : /

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QwertyChris In reply to HanksBeanieHat [2009-10-08 14:46:24 +0000 UTC]

From what I know, the whole "Anti-Jew" thing is as old as the Flintstones - back before equality in the workplace was set in stone.

In other words, I think Walt was, according to research, but changed his mind later on.

SuperLeviathan In reply to QwertyChris [2009-10-08 18:03:58 +0000 UTC]

Walt had many, many Jewish animators in his employ, without conflict.

Floyd Norman also debunked the "Walt is an Anti-Semite" thing, which should alone put it to rest.

Well, I have to be honest...I have never seen a single episode of this show, but I've heard enough about it to turn me right off it.
I get the gist of this though...I thought that whole "Disney-verse" thing was actually some YT mock-up or something, didn't realise till now it was actually part of an FG episode. As with pretty much anything you fanart, it's a cracking take on it.

Cheers mate, and I don't envy you for not watching this series. The first two/three seasons of FG are pretty much all I can enjoy nowadays.

First off, very nice job on this pic! Much more animated and elastic than the originals, kinda like Seth's pre-FG show. Well done!

I've gone through periods of mixed feelings with Family Guy. I OD'ed on their original stuff that is funny to me, and really haven't been wild about their latest stuff (spinoffs included). Nonetheless, I'd be very open to seeing other traditional art styles show up on TV, as long as the animation is not the same exact copy of FG like the other spinoffs. It's all about originality, which I'm sure is still able to be mined through animation. Hooray optimism!

QwertyChris In reply to AgentC-24 [2009-10-08 10:11:07 +0000 UTC]

Ha, far as I know many FG fan arts surpass the show's own style by eons

And yes to originality - 'tis the only way to get noticed rather than be a follower. Thanks muchly

TopperHay [2009-10-07 17:43:21 +0000 UTC]

I loved the animation and designs of the Disney-verse. It's too bad most cartoons of today can't have animation as smooth as that.

Oh, and I predicted the "LOL DISNEY HATED JEWS" joke. Is it just me, or is Seth McFarlane getting more and more anti-semitic? I liked the Wish Upon a Weinstien epidsode (as I come from a Jewish background) but come on...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QwertyChris In reply to TopperHay [2009-10-08 10:13:00 +0000 UTC]

It's getting to the point when I think Seth WANTS to be remembered for the wrong reasons - hence why they decided to do episodes based on abortion or a drugged-up horse...but that's another story

But sofa as I know, at least Eurpoean countries are still producing top-notch animation - France, fer instance, brought us "Oggy and the Cockroaches"...

Granitoons [2009-10-07 17:33:51 +0000 UTC]

Whenever folks find out the shameful secret that I'm a cartoon fan all they subsequently do is talk about Family Guy - one of the few animated shows I'm not a huge fan of at all. Although I absolutely adored the little clip I saw of Yosemite Sam trying on a pair of jeans!

QwertyChris In reply to Granitoons [2009-10-08 10:15:55 +0000 UTC]

Aye, during my College/Uni days, one cannot spend a quiet moment in class without hearing either Family Guy or Anime shows blasting out of the computer speakers. it didn't surprise me at all when I tried to share some classic animation one time, and no one took a blind bit notice...!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Granitoons In reply to QwertyChris [2009-10-08 10:23:57 +0000 UTC]

Same here - it's either that or The Simpsons, which at least used to be entertaining to me in the early days. Why are so many cartoons full of unlikable characters nowadays?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QwertyChris In reply to Granitoons [2009-10-08 10:34:06 +0000 UTC]

Apparently, the American media think that sadistic and cruel are new definitions of "funny"...just like "flammable" is defined as the new "child wear"

Give me an old-fashioned silent, slapstick comedy anydangday, where at least the antagonisers get served theirs!

Granitoons In reply to QwertyChris [2009-10-09 11:36:40 +0000 UTC]

The odd thing is how people assume a cartoon can only be for adults if it's got swearing and sex in it. Back in 'ye olde days' yon cartoons had none of this because of the time they were made in, not because they were supposedly aimed at children. None of the live action comedies had sex or swearing either. However, in my view, I don't care if something's in good or bad taste - if it's funny, it's funny!

Just when I thought Family Guy was the bane of animated existence.

The Disney-verse was just perfect. If this is a sign of things to come, I will reaffirm my love of FG.

Don't count on it - if the rest of this current season sucks, it's because they blew their budget on producing this wonder to the eyeballs.

No disrespect at all to anyone who enjoys thus series, but personally I'll gain greater respect for anyone other than Seth - unless they cut back on the slack writing
