I always gave for granted that these pokemon were inspired by Moschops; Machops, Moschops?
So much so I'd even swear I've seen old paleonart of moschops with similar ridges on their heads, but that seems to be just my imagination. But yea, buff-looking reptilian creatures with those names, I'm amazed by no one making that connection.
