[link] - the battle theme, a remixed version of Linebeck's theme. Just when you thought Linebeck couldn't get any more awesome.
So, this is a picture I've been wanting to do for... two years orz
Phantom Hourglass was so fun and I've recently been debating over whether I should replay it or Spirit Tracks. or both at the Exact Same Time
There were a few things in this game that grated on my patience Temple of the Ocean King but at the same time, the more adventure the better
I also love this game because it reminds me so much of Link's Awakening. Really when you think about it, the Ocean King and the Wind Fish, Bellum and the Nightmares, the whole adventure takes place in another world that almost seems like a dream but oh snap it wasn't! ...you know I'm right ;D
Linebeck is definitely my favorite character in the game. I loved the development between him, Link and Ciela, and particularly how Linebeck went from being a coward who used Link and Ciela to actually caring about them and putting his life on the line to help.
That development made it all the more intense when you had to fight him as the final boss. The whole cutscene before the fight I could barely hang on, I was getting blown away so much. And that quick moment before Bellum slaps that helmet on, I was just like "DUDE."
And I loved it.
I've seen other pictures of this fight, but I've never seen anybody draw Bellumbeck without the helmet. I never would have considered doing this picture with the helmet on, it makes it impersonal, like he's just another darknut to kill.
The drawing part itself, I could barely make myself stop working on this it was just so fun @o@ It all came really easily too, I was surprised! Even that idiotic background is halfway decent if you don't look at it!
And I loved coloring all that metal
it turned out all right, if I do say so myself. I have Intro to Drawing class to thank for that, haha. I particularly like the Phantom Sword, the blue and white of it was very beautiful to begin with, and I think I got the gleam of it down pretty well! Bellumbeck's sword, I guess it's all right. Super foreshortening, I have a feeling it looks atrocious and I just can't tell because I've been staring at it for so long /:Bellum I like as well, I know his tentacles aren't reaching all around like that but raaaa it's my picture I'll take all the artistic licenses I want with it!
One thing I do not like though, is the border. I didn't want to draw a lot of background, but I also didn't want to cut off the characters T: so, a struggling compromise. I might do something about that if I can come up with/am given any better ideas for it. Give me ideas for it please :,D
Link I'm also a bit dissatisfied with. I've tried a few LoZ pictures before with this same placement and Link always at that almost three quarters angle, and it just never worked out at all. This time it was at least presentable, but still. And even though this picture is only half in the game's art style, I still feel like Link isn't enough in that style. I dunno, I will gripe about it til the day I die.
But, as a whole I'm quite satisfied with this picture. Especially given what I had to work off of, haha. Manga pages to get the patterns on Bellumbeck's chest and sword so it may not be entirely accurate, and tiny screenshots and blurry youtube videos haha
And I hope that this picture will bring the wonderment of Phantom Hourglass to you, and make you play it

Link taught him to help others, to be kind, to be courageous.
In this instant, he took in everything he learned from Link and his actions. He held on to the sacred blade, and freed the hero from the beast.
Now, overwhelmed with rage, the hero is fully determined to save Linebeck or die trying. He can't let Linebeck sacrifice himself! So began the battle in which only one more soul would be sent to the dark void...and that soul shall be the soul of Bellum!

I loved this scene, it really brought out his raw emotion, it was so sad <:,D
Personally I don't think a game just all about him would be very good. He was just a sailor hobo before he met Link after all XD It was only after the course of Phantom Hourglass that he grew as a character~

I remember playing this for the first time, and when this happened i was like "O.O oh chiz" XD. Linebeck was definitly my favorite charater from PH 
This piece really reminds me of that epic moment, fighting him on that piece of what was left of the ghost ship. Good job

Oh man, I love you. This was my favorite moment in the game, hands down. And you're absolutely right. Linebeck is a really great character. I love how the game manages to focus on the characters so much even though... it's a game? I'd expect something like that from a book, comic, or movie, but I love it when games put so much effort into the plot, too.
You have accomplished your goal in making me want to play the whole thing through again. D: But the Temple of The Ocean King is SUCH a pain...

I know what you mean, it was really easy to get to know the characters, and they had a lot of different facets to them, I love that! Linebeck and Ciela had great interaction, you got to learn a lot about them from that, the way they started to like each other in the end. And Linebeck definitely came out as my favorite in the end, all those little moments where he wanted to say something nice but just couldn't..
And the ending was great~! I loved it enough to paint this anyways! hahah

Oh, man, I am currently facepalming so hard at myself because I missed this. I've been thinking of replaying Phantom Hourglass for the lulz lately and this only intensified the urge, ahaha. I remember fighting this boss and having just about the same reaction you had. "What the shit this is awesome aaaagh" sums it up rather well for me.
And oddly enough I think my favorite part about this piece besides the coloring which is awesome in its own right is Linebeck's expression. It's just the right amount of that evil rawrgh I'mma keel yoo but at the same time I can sense that touch of hesitancy that hints that Linebeck is still in there somewhere wanting to get free. Just. So intense, man. >:U

Haha, I knew I wasn't the only one that saw the similarities of Dethl and Bellum! When I saw the old cryptic design of Bellum in one of the ancient paintings (was it on the Ghost Ship? I forget, it's been a year or two), I was like "OMG IT'S DETHL." If they added Facade into the mix, it would have been my dream come true... I've always wanted to see him somehow thrown into a 3-D environment.
Also, Spirit Tracks would have been so much better if it wasn't for that GOD DAMN LUTE. I gave up on the game on the last area, since I couldn't get that last duet correct. Ever. I seriously tried for three or so hours, for two days. I kid you not.

Ah man, I just loved all those similarities, Link's Awakening was the first Zelda game I ever played so I hardly remembered it at first, but Phantom Hourglass brought all those memories rushing back :,D
Aww I actually liked the pan flute! It was difficult though yeah, when I thought I wasn't blowing into it, it turned out I was T: pretty often.

Man think about it.....Bellum had a hold of Link the same way he did Linebeck moments later.......Can you imagine what a BellumLink would have looked like?
On a related note, playing Spirit Tracks, I had a feeling Malladus was going to possess Byrne for a split second when he was zapping him to death since I knew how the final boss went with this one....well.... I was shocked when he died. T_T But the next part...that was a welcome surprise to see the nasty(awesome) Cole got backstabbed and possessed instead! ha! He even turned into a Ganon-like pig monster too!

Yeah, that was so sad when Byrne died. I held out hope that maybe it wasn't so, but... nothing doing.
And I love Malladus! Awesome design and some super awesome themes. That final battle was so fun, I was on the edge of my seat trying to keep both Zelda and Link from getting trampled, haha
