Because I can’t see 2PGermany as anything other than a pathetic, weasely, whiny, useless, undependable, unorganised, unproductive, whimpering, rubbish, ineffectual, incompetent, inept, incapable, hopeless, idiotic, worthless, inadequate, ineffectual waste of time.I just can’t see him as cool or badass. To me he looks like a poor man’s parody of a badass. I see individual elements that are supposed to be badass, but the problem is once you compare him to the genuine article he pales in comparison.
Even though I see artwork where he does look quite badass, I just don’t get it. If you go by the theory that the 2Players are sort of the anti-Hetalia characters, then really 2PGermany should be useless, indecisive and unorganised. He’s a bit like normal-Italy, but without any of the adorable charm.
Also, what is up with that scar on his arm? Was he mauled by a tiger or something?
I’m totally fine for someone to give me a case study on why they would think 2PGermany is badass. I just don’t really see him that way… He wears purple trousers… purple trousers….
(Also, I sort of like the idea that in the Mirror-universe Germany and Italy have swapped places)

Ahaha, I've always thought Germany's 2P was a wimp, and Italy's was a badass. I had the same mindset as you, considering the 2P's are their opposites shouldn't Lutz be the 'Heta' of their relationship? Like how 2P!Russia to me is a scary looking dude who gets frightened by his own servants...

Yes! Awesome to find someone else that feels the same way. The 2P Germany design just came off to me as trying too hard to look cool. So I thought the two of them switched would be appropriate.

He just never developed a back bone
The '2Players' started off as a set of recolours Himaruya did of the Hetalia characters, most of them looked a lot darker than the originals, and people jumped on the designs and started coming up with their own concepts. Now they have their own continuity (to an extent).
But generally it's accepted that the 2Players are either a sort of mirror-universe or evil-anti versions of the characters. Alot of them have opposite traits (2P!England being able to cook), but the interpretations tend to change between artists, there are lots of different headcannons and variations.

I quite like the Mirror-Universe idea, I find it quite fun looking at how they've ended up differently. I'm currently working on a story with them, but I want to get it done first before I let stuff out.

The 2p characters are very interesting in that you can interpret them exactly how you want, and I find it very entertaining to hear people's different takes on them. Personally I view them as the side the 1p character is very embarrassed about, all the little quirks and things that really are them but that they would hate to show off to the rest of the world, or even to themselves. I'd say that since Germany is such an organized, neat and awkward character, the 2p side of him is more free-spirited, doesn't give a damn about keeping clean or what other people think of him.
But as said, they are to be interpreted however you want, and no ones is more right than someone else.

That is the cool thing about the 2Players.
There are some comics I look at and go; even though that's not how I thought about the characters, or that doesn't fit in with my idea of them, I still think it's cool. I like your idea because it's a nice reflection and exploration of the original characters.
And even what the 2Players are seems to vary from person to person, from anti-Hetalia characters, to seemingly existing in our own universe, being other part of the main characters, to be Hetalia's equivalent of the Mirror Universe.
Personally I like the Mirror universe one, or I like extrapolating on it, it's led to some very different headcanons from what I think is the generally accepted norm.
But either way, it's still fun.

Absolutely. Like 2P characters are not only the evil twins of the original, but they're also the opposite of them. Like how you see 2P!Italia being such a badass, serving you pasta with blood sauce on it while there's 1P!Italia, being a whiny-baby while toting a white flag around. Then it absolutely makes sense that 2P!Doitsu is a whiny-baby.

I guess people just have different takes on the 2ps; They don't have to be the opposite, as they're really just alternative colour versions of the originals and may not even be meant to be different characters altogether. Plus, you can't really make someone the exact opposite of another, as people have complicated personalities with many different aspects in them. You could make 2p Germany like Italy so he's helpless but constantly happy, or like Prussia so he's immature and thinks he's so badass. There's different ways you could go with it, but that just makes 2ptalia more interesting X3

I've gone through different things, where they either seem to be a mirror universe or just straight forward seem to be the characters opposites. The 2Player universe seems quite flexible to me.
Don't worry, I do have more ideas to 2PGermany's character than this. Most of the aspects of his personality I've been working have actually been for them to better reflect on the original Germany. I emphasise the 2player versions cowardice mainly for comedy, but after the comments I've been receiving I might make him more a trying to project a badass and nastier image, but inwardly being more cowardly.

I wouldn't say 2P Germany Would be a cool Badass, I'd just say he was an intelligent and cold blooded Killer, For instance, Same attributes as normal Germany, Only he just wants to kill everyone who isn't him and beat the crap out of anyone who said he wasn't a badass, He'd be like the play ground bully everyone obeys without a choice and 2p Italy would be the one everyone knows is a psychotic bastard but pays no attention to. and probably get's beaten up be 2p Hungary and left hanging from a tree by his underwear... That's how i'd see it.

That's not a bad idea, I think it would work quite well for an AU Gakuen storyline (I guess it's mainly the school analogies that made think of that).
There's something about the design for 2PItaly that generally makes me think of him as being more self-confident, extrapolating mainly from the original Himaruya picture, but also the extra military details have led me to think he'd be more competent than normal-Italy.
I'd guess I'd see 2PGermany as being more outwardly imposing but inwardly more cowardly, and I end up exaggerating it alot in my sketches.

I find it interesting looking at 2PItaly's uniform, it seems to be closer to the actual military uniforms of the Second World War (and yet for normal-Italy I have been unable to find a uniform from the time that's blue).
Another thing I find with 2Player Germany is that even though he has these scars which should be cool, I can't help but think that Germany doesn't have any scars but is still cool. So to me I just imagine the 2Player version is someone who's trying too hard to look cool.

Possibly. But Germany, Like Russia has had a lot of bloodshed and internal struggles, so could be as a reult of that maybe?

Ahhh, I also had an idea for 2PPrussia. Will get round to doing him eventually, it'll probably be fairly different from how he normally gets done (but hopefully in a fun way).
