You'll have to forgive the poor quality of this. It's from a 30 year old B&W Xerox I made from a newspapers microfiche at the Boston Public Library.I don't know if the Archie strip is being reprinted, this one from the early 70s (I think) was too weird to be lost to TG toon fans.
A silly bet with Veronica sends Archie to his mom's room to prove that one can get dressed completely as a woman in 5 minutes!
A couple of VERY suspicious things here.
How did Archie know exactly how long it'd take him to dress as a girl.
How did he know how to apply makeup so well?
How did he manage to find a complete outfit so fast?
Why did his mom have lingerie and a mini-dress that fit Archie perfectly?
Why was Archie still dressed after the time it took that guy to get back to his office?
And just for the record, I think Archie has nice legs in that getup.

This was long before cellphones, although Veronica wqas rich enough to have a car phone at the time.
Not sure what the lesson would be, maybe not have a boyfriend who could be mistaken for her?
On the other hand maybe Archie can get off the hook by offering to fill in for Ronnie's maid?

I think Archie had been experimenting, and finally worked up a reason to show her how good he was. Probably Ronnie gave him some proper instruction later. Maybe it's not only her money that Veronica has it all over Betty when it comes to Archie, maybe she likes his kinks

There may have been more plot, but i think they shortened the comic to fit the space and left the character dressed up to push the gag and the piece needed a reaction/resolution. So that is why it's like this. as far as Archie being cute dressed up like that.. I'm going to leave that up for debate, and not touch that with a ten foot clown pole.peace

Doesn't this violate some fundamental law of cross dressing in cartoons? I mean, since when does a guy in a comic strip get dolled up and NOT become the new hottest girl?

It's also worth pointing out that if we accept the art as sequential the agent saw Archie, drove back to his office, talked to his assistant about dumping "Veronica," presumably called the Lodge household to inform them, the word got back to Veronica, she attacks Archie over this... and he's still wearing his mother's clothes? I'm just saying I think there was a lot of story we missed between the last few panels.

I agree, here's what we may have missed.
This would all happen between the last 2 panels.
The guy lost little time after getting a look at the disguised Archie (Mr tact he ain't after saying EEUK right to 'Veronica's face.)Archie of course has no idea who the guy was. But he puts it out of his mind as he has won the bet and entertains Ronnie by going totally into female character giving her some laughs. And getting some pointers too.
After awhile she wonders call the model agency to see if the guy is still coming. She gets the response that Veronica has been rejected, the agency does not want anymore redheads. Puzzled by this response she hangs up the phone just in time for Jugehad to finally finish eating the snacks Ronnie had brought out and tell her the guy from the modelling agency was all ready there. Ronnie puts 2+2 together and the dishes start flying.
