This is the type of stuff I really enjoy finding in Golden Age Comics.From Egbert #12 (1949)
This is a backup strip called Kitchen Canary, maybe the birds owner is afraid of gas leaks.
It's one of those fantasy worlds where everything is alive, including food!
The local bad mouse has stolen some living cheese which he plans to eat (how does any living thing survive in this world otherwise.)
But out of nowhere we get a story involving forced crossdressing, forced feminization and forced female masking.
Lucky thing the living appliances had a female mouse costume lying around.
Hmmmm, maybe there is a gas leak and the canary is just having a bad trip.

Do the humans know the food and inanimate objects are alive or is this a Toy Story type deal where humans are oblivious.

In the 5 page story humans may be a myth, they never appear.
It takes place at night when they are all asleep.

It's still funny, maybe not in the same way, but still a humorous situation.
I just really find the entire story strange with the living food & appliances picking on the canary.
The pepper's comment of BOINNG and where his hand is is VERY suspicious too.

Maybe there's some pages they made that we haven't seen. It's rumored All Call was into some strange porn and used to pay his artists extra to make it for him. It is know when he died his editorial assistant was instructed to take the contents of a shipping container that Call owned and burn it. All the assistant would say about the contents was that they were drawings. Some assert that Call was behind The Tijuana Funnies, fan porn versions of popular comic strips
